As They Try to Change Their Worlds
Stars. So many stars. Newkirk could never get over how bright the night sky was here in Germany. Back home in the city, you were lucky to see even one star past the lamps that lit the streets even on the blackest night. He chuckled to himself when he wondered why he had never missed the stars. You couldn't miss what you've never had. Then suddenly he froze. Amazingly the sky was even brighter than before. A streak of golden light shot across the darkness. He gazed in wonder at this phenomenon and realized that he was seeing a shooting star for the first time. It was headed towards London, and, just for a moment, Newkirk felt at home.
