Chapter 1: Hogwarts

The train whistled, and mounds of grayish smoke came flooding the platform nine and three quarters. Last minute students bustled onto the scarlet steam engine, as it gave a final whistle. The momentum of the train bumped the pale first year onto the walkway.

Blushing, with embarrassment, Evelyn got up from her heap of robes and splintered wood. "You need help?" A boy asked.

Evelyn nodded shyly, as she looked up at the boy. His alarming handsome features startled Evelyn to a helpless, stuttering heap. "Tha- thank you, thank you…"

He handed her his hand, he slowly gathered up her things and put them back into the trunk. "The trunk isn't too badly damaged; you want me to fix it?"

Evelyn, once again was speechless and nodded shyly. "Thanks." She added.

He took a thin black oak wand from the pocket of his robe. He pointed at the trunk and said "Orculous Reparo!"

The splintered wood shot back together, like an invisible man playing puzzle.

"There we go, it seems we're both not in our seats. Want to share a compartment?"

They carried each handle of the trunk down the walkway, finally the found a compartment, occupied by one student. "Mind if we sit here James?"

"'Course not."

They heaved the trunk onto the top rack and sat down, Evelyn across from James.

"So, what's your name?" Asked the handsome boy "I'm Sirius Black, and this is my good mate, James Potter."

"I'm – I'm Evelyn, Evelyn Hart. A- a pleasure to meet you, both."

"A shy gal you are, aren't you?" Laughed James.

Evelyn broke into a smile. Her pretty shone through her smile, her purple, lilac eyes sparkled.

The boys unkindly stared but Evelyn forgave them. I'm so glad I have friends like these; they really do make me laugh! Thought Evelyn, when the exploding pop fizzed all over James.

Red, crimson sunset swept over the countryside, twinkling stars broke through the now darkening sky.

"So pretty" breathed Evelyn.

"Wait till you get to Hogwarts! You'll even be more amazed!"

"How'll you know? You haven't even been to Hogwarts before!" Retorted Sirius.

"Have so!"

'Have not!'

'Yes!'

'No!'

The argument lasted until Evelyn busted out laughing. The two boys looked over and started to laugh also.

The compartment door opened and a snobbish looking boy came in wearing a prefect's badge. "Tone it down! You haven't changed yet you two! Get going we're almost there!"

The boys glared and said "be back in a sec." to Evelyn.

Evelyn glanced at the scenery before she yelped at the crashing heap on the floor. A greasy haired boy spat at the floor and looked up at Evelyn. "What' cha looking at? You filthy…" but he stopped as someone pointed a rather old wand at the back of his head.

"Severus… apologize!" A boy with dirty blond hair tapped Severus's head.

"And, why should I do that? Lupin?"

He thrust the wand hard at his head, causing sparks. If Lupin isn't careful, he'll set his hair a flame with all that grease! Thought Evelyn, a little unkindly.

Severus got up and glanced alarmingly evilly at Evelyn. He started for the door but James and Sirius came in.

"Argh!"

The both of them looked disgusted. Severus sneered over his hooked nose as he pushed pass them, roughly. "Who was that?"

"Severus or Snivellous Snape. I caught him hitting a girl then he fell in here, calling you a filthy."

"Right, but I'm not-"

"Oh don't mind that greased dirt! He calls everyone that!"

"I think I see the castle. Don't you Remus?"

Remus nodded.

"Hogwarts! No better place in the world! I've grown to love this place!"

"Lay off the hallmark cards Remus. It's getting to ya!"
