I wrote this to get over tonight's episode. Spoilers for 3x13.

Tell me what you think.

Disclaimer: I own nothing.

When they got the first shot, Bobbi and Hunter were alarmed. Confused. But then they saw Jemma, smiling sadly at them from a far-away table. Simmons could not say goodbye, so she was showing them instead.

And then they got Fitz's shot. It made sense that he would be there with her. After everything they had been through, FitzSimmons was finally starting to become FitzSimmons again. But Lance and Bobbi would not be there to see it.

Next came May's, accompanied by the closest thing to an actual smile that they had ever witnessed on the stern agent's face. Of course she, who spoke so little, would know how to express everything in that one, small upturn at the corners of her mouth.

Then was Daisy's. She lifted her own glass with a half-smile, mirthless and reminiscent of better days. She was being brave for them, and they were thankful for that.

Mack's shot was the saddest of all. He had situated himself by the pool table, pretending that he was just a guy in a bar. Not a man losing two of the best people, agents, and friends that he ever had the honor of knowing.

They saw Coulson last. He gave them a second's glance, having already said his goodbye. But in that glance was the unsaid, the thanks and the hopes that someday this would all be over. That they would all see each other again. He raised his glass and looked back at the two.

May, Daisy, Mack, Fitz and Simmons followed suit. Finally, Hunter and Bobbi raised their shots, making a silent toast to the friends who would have to leave them behind. And, one by one, they drank to the silent heroes of SHIELD. Who had been a shield to an organization that they owed nothing too, yet that owed them everything. To the people who had lied to save their fellow agents, given up their freedom, their integrity, their jobs, and their future.

They toasted to Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter.

But, more importantly, they said goodbye.

Then FitzSimmons left the bar, fleeing quickly into the dark night. Daisy got up, smiled at them one last time, and followed, May on her heels.

Coulson moved to leave next, looking around for Mack.

Mack, who stood, tears glistening in his eyes, shot glass still full in hand. His silent toast was not yet over.

The ex-agents picked up two more of their own shots, exchanging another goodbye, this one to their longest friend. Who had stuck with one in the 'real SHIELD', kidnapped another for the same cause. Who had fought, against those who would destroy it, for the organization that these friends had protected with their lives.

He drank the shot, walked past their table, and smiled, tears threatening to escape his dark eyes. Mack left the bar.

The Director walked out last, looking at his agents with a pride known only to a father who had watched his children grow up to become something greater than even he had ever imagined. And that they had.

Hunter and Bobbi had their own thanks. Fury's SHIELD had driven them apart, but Coulson's brought them back together. And now, each other was all they had.

Because it was then that Coulson walked out of the bar.

Wow, that was really intense to write. Probably because that scene was so sad! RIP Hunter and Bobbi. And my computer, which is probably going to short circuit from the mass of tears currently falling onto it.

But thank Marvel for the spin-off we're getting! (;
