Kakashi Hatake sat with his girlfriend on the ratty couch in his small apartment.
"I have to go on a mission on Wednesday," Kakashi told Akiko in a half-hearted attempt to fill the silence.
"Okay," she said, not moving her eyes from the book in her lap.
He thought for a moment, then spoke. "It's a suicide mission," he said, hoping to get a reaction from her.
She glanced up at him for a moment, then resumed her reading. "Okay."
"I'm probably not gonna come home," he said, eyes widening imperceptibly.
She shrugged, knowing he wanted her attention and that he was lying anyway. "Okay."
His grey eyebrows pulled together. "I'm cheating on you."
She pursed her lips for a moment, then shrugged. "Okay."
"With Iruka."
She had to fight the smile on that one. "Okay."
He sighed, and a grin spread across his face when he realized the perfect opening he had. Kakashi shifted so he was facing her.
"Marry me," he said.
Akiko looked up slowly, almost afraid he would take back his command. When she realized he wasn't going to, a smile spread across her face. "Okay."
