Nothing At All
Kagome and I are in the forest
When a gentle breeze did blow.
I smell you there. I see you hiding
My once loved Kikyo.
I look to the tree you're hiding behind,
Your coal hair and snowy face.
Your brown eyes scrutinize
As you stand there in silent grace.
Kagome looks from you to me,
And tears spring up in her gentle eyes.
She asks, "She's here isn't she?
If you go to her, I won't be surprised."
"Don't talk like that, Kagome," I say,
And meet hers with my amber eyes.
"She means," I start, and then look to you,
And your eyes dare me to lie.
Your stared fills me with pain,
As it dares me to cast aside
Everything we were, everything we shared,
Everything we meant- deny.
I look back to Kagome,
And swallow as I stare at the distant wall.
Kikyo, forgive me, but I still say,
"She means nothing at all. Nothing at all."
