Black Star looked at himself closer in the mirror. His nose was an inch away from his reflection now, and his hands were clutching the sides of the sink. There was a sadness in his eyes that had never been there before. His eyes roved over his face, his lip sticking out ever so slightly. He ran his fingers through his hair, which automatically went back to its crazy, spiky form. Black Star sighed.

"I have blue hair. Blue." he laughed sadly. "Who has blue hair?"

He looked into his own eyes and sighed. He had never noticed just how plain they were. Nothing godly, just little, boring dots. They looked empty.

And then there was his lips. His lips were just a friggen line.

He hit his forehead on the mirror because he was looking so closely at his reflection.

"What am I doing? I'm a god! Gods don't have insecurities…"

But was he a god? Was he really as superior as he had made himself out to be? Or was he just a spazz that had no family and couldn't pass a test? Gods didn't lose, gods didn't fail…

He looked at his reflection again, and it was if 'loser', 'dork', 'idiot', and 'good-for-nothing spazz' was written across his face. That's all he was. A failure, a teenage guy who couldn't even get the girl that lived with him to notice him…

Stupid eyes, stupid hair, stupid brain…

"Black Star? Are you okay?"

Black Star looked out of the corner of his eye to see Tsubaki standing at the entrance of the bathroom. He kept his eyes shaded.

"I'm fine.

"Are you-"

"I SAID I'M FINE!"

Black Star punched the mirror and broke it, and his hands came away bloody. He ran his hands through his hands through his hair, dying a streak of his hair red.

Hm. Red. Better than friggen blue

"Black Star!"

Tsubaki grasped Black Star's shoulders and shook him once. Black Star looked at her, and his eyes seemed to focus again. "Tsubaki…"

She looked frightened.

"Black Star…"

Black Star felt something wet on his cheek. He touched it and brought it to his lips. It was salty.

Black Star pushed Tsubaki away, causing her to hit her head on the broken mirror. "Get outta here. Gods don't cry. Mortals don't see gods cry."

Tsubaki brushed the blow away like it was nothing, but her eyelid twitched with pain. "What's going on?"

"I'M HAVING GODLY ISSUES!"

Tsubaki giggled.

Why is she giggling?

Black Star looked at her with his eyebrows scrunched together. She just shook her head, still smiling.

"I'll never understand you, Black Star. But…"

She wrapped her arms around his neck, and Black Star's face turned red.

"T-Tsubaki, wh-what're you…?"

"Shh…"

She pressed her lips against her meisters, and Black Star's eyes were wide with shock.

"You…?"

Tsubaki smiled. "Is it okay for a mortal to be in love with a god?"

Black Star smiled, and shrugged. "I'm sure that we can make an exception…"

They spent an eternity in that bathroom, during which Tsubaki knotted her hands in Black Star's hair, looked into his eyes, and kissed his lips.

Black Star never had insecurities again.
