Author's note: New to this fandom and am in the middle of season 6 but I couldn't help falling in love with the pairing of Dean/Castiel. And this lovely image I found brought this to mind so I wrote it. Nothing too noteworthy to warn about: angst, yaoi implied, and probably a cliché plot line but...I thought it was cute...so...
Finding God
Castiel was dying. And Dean refused to let that be the end of the conversation. No, not now. Not when the other had finally been honest, and when he himself had finally understood the pull he always felt when he was around. Cas was the other half of his soul and Dean couldn't, wouldn't, lose him like this.
"Dean, you don't know where to look and you don't have much time," Sam had said trying to be realistic. Dean had just told him to keep looking for leads as he gently laid the unconscious angel in the passenger seat he'd pushed back and shutting the door. Sam huffs before murmuring, "Yeah, just be careful, Dean."
He just gives him that cocky grin even though it doesn't reach his eyes before sliding into the drivers seat. He had several ideas of places but no true destination. His fingers wrap around the amulet on his neck. He had to find him or her or whatever. There was no other option. Not if he wanted to save Cas. And he was going to save Cas.
And time would pass and things would get worse making Dean's frustration mount. Castiel was running out of time and Dean was running out of options. Footsteps echoing as he walks in front of the same damn hotel he and Sam had gotten stuck in listening to the pagan gods arguing about Lucifer and his emotions have hit rock bottom as he cradles the form against him. A few feet away and he feels heat before looking down at the now glowing amulet. Green eyes widen before he looks around frantically. "You're...close, right? Cas said...it glows in your presence. Look, I'm sure you know...what the score is but please...Castiel is...He's my world. I know that this is considered taboo or whatever but I can't think that you'd be so against..." He swallows and whispers, "Please, just save him. Even if it means we can't be together, even if it means I never see him again. Just...please don't let him die like this. I love him and I..."
That is all I wanted to know, Dean Winchester. He feels more than hears the words and soon the light would fade and panic would grip him for a second before there is the feel of shifting and he watches familiar blue eyes blink open. "D-Dean...why...are you carrying me?"
Castiel's confused query has him pulling him closer as he starts laughing even as tears form in his vision. "Dean? Dean, what's...what's wrong?"
"Nothing," he manages quietly, "Nothing is wrong, Cas."
