The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion

The End Result

The Septim Line that dominated the imperial throne of Tamriel died after the disappearance of Martin Septim. The news of what had happened in the Temple District in the Imperial City spread to the whole country like wildfire. The news caused great joy for the people as they would not fear anything related to the Oblivion Gates or daedric anymore. The people remembered it as The Temple District Incident, which was later shortened as The Incident.

The Oblivion Gates themselves that appeared after the battle in Bruma self destructed after Mehrunes Dagon was defeated. With the Gates gone, there was peace that could seem everlasting.

That was not so however as the peace only lasted for slightly more than 11 months. With no new emperor to take the reins of the country, rebellious factions appeared everywhere and were seen rallying people to their so-called 'noble' cause. At first, it was just demonstration against the empire. Then it changed into a mass riot, which led to open war.

It took 10 years to quell the rebellion and to lose the faith and support of the people. For all those ten years of fighting and the fear of the Imperial Legion and the rebels, the people just got tired and frustrated at the government. Matters got worse when attacks had occurred at the borders of Skyrim and Morrowind in the six year of quelling the rebellion. Even though the Elder Council managed to solve the problems with Skyrim and Morrowind quickly, the people were still not convinced.

The Elder Council, by then under pressure for two years by the people, decided to abolish the Tamriel Empire and through the wishes of the people, Cyrodiil became the Republic of Tamriel. Because of this new concept of government, anything that was related to the Tamriel Empire was disbanded or abolished. Fortunately, the Imperial-sanctioned guilds, especially the Mages Guild and the Fighters Guild were allowed to operate under the new Republic laws.

As for the Hero of Kvatch, he became the Guild Master of the Fighters Guild and the Arch-Mage of the Arcane University and the Mages Guild. He became one of the greatest leaders for both guilds and it was because of him that enabled all the Imperial-sanctioned guilds to operate under the Republic. After 20 years of becoming leader of the guilds and going through the rebellion, the attacks from Skyrim and Morrowind and government transition, he decided to retire and wanted to live in the countryside. However he was last seen leaving Skingrad, heading west. That was the last time he was seen alive. His body was never found.

His disappearance caused mass panic to the people and search parties were sent throughout the country. But after a year, he was finally declared dead. A military funeral was held with full honours and a memorial was build for him

The Republic of Tamriel, like the previous government, had its ups and downs. However, the Republic lasted for many years, much more longer than the Empire.
