What if all our mothers died?
What if no one loved us?
What if people turned away, from the eyes we carried?
What would happen to us then?
Would our souls shrivel?
Would we kill ourselves and then, leave the world forever?
Would we kill the people who, in their honest fear,
Killed our souls and made us scared of the world around us?
Would we be able to love at all?
Would we be able to trust?
Or would we hate the world
That gave us this fate unjust?
Then what if our mothers lived?
What if no one was scared?
What if people met the eyes,
Met the eyes that burned them?
What would happen then?
Would our souls be turned to dust,
Lost among the pain?
Or would our souls grow bigger,
Trusting once again?
Would the love we never knew
Be something scary, foreign?
Or we we recognize the ones
Who made us cry for them?
What if all our mothers died?
What if no one loved us?
What if "Monster!" we were called,
And everyone ran from us?
What if the one person that
Told you he would be there
Decided that he hated you
And ran from you forever?
Would we turn into monsters, then,
Hiding from the world?
Or would we kill the sight we loved,
Swearing not to hurt?
What if fate were cruel to us?
What if we were young?
What if our young bodies
Couldn't turn to dust?
What if the one person
Who said he loved us true
Decided that he hated us,
And left us, all for you?
Would we then be monsters,
Killing, scheming, hating?
Or would se simply curse the day,
The monster came among us?
Would we then be monsters,
The pain so harsh it burns?
Or would we be able to love
The one whose hate now churns
For us, the one who told him so
We loved him, didn't we?
We told him that we loved him true,
But killed suddenly.
We told him not to worry,
He'd never face our wrath.
We told him not to punish us,
For fear of punishing back.
We told him everything.
We told him of our hate.
Then finally we told him
That we couldn't open the gate.
That gate was love,
That gate was truth,
That gate was trust,
That gate was the crust.
The crust of the earth, that encased us.
The one that killed you.
The one that lied.
The one who you swore,
Would never die.
The one that finally, we broke through.
When we told you,
We love you.
