Gryffindor had won. The gleaming crowd of scarlet and gold wouldn't stop cheering and were streaming the entire pitch. Harry held the cup gaily and couldn't stop smiling as he was hoisted over the shoulders of his team mates. Ron too had appreciative thumping on his back constantly and his hair was ruffled too many times. Harry scanned the huge mass of crowd and saw Hermione, her hair flowing past her, rushing towards him.
"Harry, that was wonderful!" she exclaimed and waited for Harry to be brought down before she could envelope him in a warm embrace.
"Thanks Hermione,' Harry replied as he returned the gesture with utmost energy.
Pulling apart, Hermione leaned over and kissed him on his cheek in order to congratulate him.
"I should go and see Ron as well," Hermione said as Harry nodded in reply before he was engulfed by the Weasley twins. Harry, through the tangled arms wrapped around him saw Hermione make her way towards Ron who detached himself from his team mates and looked earnestly towards her. Harry noticed Hermione timidly congratulate him and he too shyly responded. Then Hermione took ages to lean over and seek his cheek from her lips. But at the instant when her lips were a mere inches from his cheeks, Ron turned so that now Hermione's lips were hovering right before his. They both froze and Harry too felt uncomfortable. Owing to that, Harry decided to fight his way towards them as to break them out of their awkwardness. But Ron moved. Not back. Rather, he leaned in and swiftly pecked Hermione's frozen lips. Harry stood stock still as did Hermione. Ron how ever gave her a bashful grin and turned around to immerse in the preceding activities. Hermione stood right there and Harry saw her bring her fingers to touch her lips. A tentative smile grew and she shook her head.
Harry, from that far, too smiled.
