Chapter 1

[The fanfic starts out right after Angel says, "You know Riley? I don't like him."]
"You know Riley? I don't like him."
"Funny, sometimes I don't either," Buffy said before she could stop herself.
She gasped, what had she said! She hadn't meant to say it out loud. Oh lord Buffy, maybe Riley
hadn't heard it!
Then she heard something behind her and saw the look on Angel's face.
DAMN!
She slowly, mentally prepared herself, and turned around.
"You don't like me, Buffy?" he asked.
"Sometimes, no, you piss me off," she said, deciding to go with honesty.
"Why do I?" he asked, looking like a hurt little boy.
"Because .... your so damn normal, Riley!" she said, almost gagging.
He blanched at her cruel words.
"Then I'll go so I won't "piss you off"," he said, walking past her before stopping.
"Your such a bitch Buffy," he said and then he backhanded her.
Normally, being Buffy, she'd have been prepared but this was Riley and she hadn't been expecting
it.
Then Angel growled and jumped him from behind, tackling him to the ground and beating the
ever-loving-hell out of him.
Buffy sat stunned on the ground, watching.
"Angel, what are you doing?" she whispered, almost to herself.
"What the hell does it look like? Killing this bastard!" he roared with fury beyond the
description of words.
"Oh, well, thats what I thought .... I was just checking," she said with a nod.
