I just want to thank lvkishugs for this one. Her Valentine's day story and the song "Tonight" by Staind gave me the inspiration to write this. Isn't it funny how you get inspiration from the weirdest places? So I'm going to dedicate this to her. Hope you like it!
Tonight
As the stars come out tonight,
There's no one in sight.
I'm all alone, without anyone here;
No one to whisper sweet words in my ear.
It's always the same thing, every day.
What more can I say?
I wish you were here so bad.
If you were, man would I be glad.
But you're far away,
And that's they way it has to stay.
If only I could hold you, if just for one night.
If just once something could go right.
Your promise is my peace of mind.
It's the only solace I can seem to find.
It keeps me going; it gives me hope.
Knowing you'll come home soon is how I cope.
Just thinking of it gives me a ray of sunshine.
It almost makes me feel fine.
As I sit and stare at the endless ocean before me,
I hear a voice, who could it be?
I whip around, and lo and behold-
You've come back, just like I was told.
A smile is on your face; a rose in your hand.
My knees have turned to jelly and I'm not sure that I can stand.
A tear rolls down my cheek as I realize this is all true.
It's like you came to me right on cue.
"What's wrong, Kai?" you say.
I quickly reply, I'm okay.
I add, Sora, don't leave me.
You smile and say, I never did. Don't you see?
And then I remember. What you said to me. "I'm always with you too."
As I look back, it's true.
Every time I was down, I looked inside my heart.
It's where you've always been, right from the start.
I run and give you a flying hug, and say
"Are you really here to stay?"
You smile, nod, and say, "I'm sorry it took me so long"
I shake my head. "You've done nothing wrong,"
"You kept your promise, and we're together now. That's all that matters."
