She hated everything about him.

His harsh nature, his soulless cruelty. His stupid smirk. The way he called her 'love' in the pouty tone. She despised how he thought he could buy and bribe his way through everyone, hated how he was so stubborn, stuck up, sarcastic and sly. She hated his secret smile, hated those cheeky dimples, hated his soft chuckle. The way he always seemed slightly bemused when she returned his expensive gifts, the way he smelt of birch, smoke and something else, something deeper, darker. The way he dismissed her crude remarks with a wink and a wave of his hand, how he remained fascinated with her after all this time.

But maybe when she really thought about it…

Hated to admit how a single smile could send a surge of something through her, something that made her skin grow hot and her blood go cold. Hated to admit how when he stared at her with those amused eyes she could feel her inside squirm and the butterflies kick in her stomach. How he always seemed to think that she could light up the world and save the day with her , as she quoted, radiency. Hated how he made her feel so damn special.

In short, she hated how much she really cared.
