A/N: In all honesty it was going to be a lot longer but it felt good as it was, kind of bitter sweet but also kind of happy. Thanks for reading and please let me know what you think!

A Very Potter Christmas

Snow was falling thick and fast in Godrick's Hollow as the children of the town ran around happily. A group of mothers sat on the bench chatting, a few with small children on their laps. One such mother was lily potter, and her baby boy was grinning happily as little flecks of snow landed on his bundled up body as his mother lovingly rocked him. Not young enough to understand the event he could only feel the buzz in the air and he could practically feel the happiness in the air. He could see the loving smiles his mother cast down on him and heard the songs his father's voice sung to him, they were meaningless tunes to him but they still enchanted his heart and sparked his soul.

Lily grinned as harry gurgled again, her little boy was so sweet, always making cute mumblings, lost to all but him. Even though he was far too young for them to properly spend Christmas with him, James and herself had gone all out on decorating there little cottage. As mother and child walked the short distance to Potter's corner the Christmas tree glowed enticingly in the window and little rows of candles lined the sill. Upon entering Lily could smell her and James' latest festive concoction cooking in the oven, with any luck it would be a replica of her mother's cake. Something they had learned during Lily's pregnancy was that she was a passionate cook but not always such a great one. Lily laughed as she remembered the point in her pregnancy when she had craved for pickle cheesecake, that had been an experience; although it was probably accountable for Harry's absolute love for all things sweet and savoury and well edible. The boy was a marvel, he had an appetite unrivalled by all the babies she had met, he would eat anything, including apparently her antique baubles. Wait- he was eating her antique baubles?!

Lily leapt up "Harry no, we do not eat glass!" she said as she pried the bauble from his hands, unfortunately regretting it as he started balling. "James!" she called upstairs, trying to coo her son.

James laughed as Harry happily chewed on his finger, well gummily sucked would be more accurate as baby Harry was yet to grow teeth. The boy would be a prize seeker one day, of that much James was sure, considering the joyful fun Harry was having playing with the snitch Sirius had given him as an early Christmas present, Lily had humphed at the gift, muttering about corrupting her son but James thought it was brilliant. It kept him occupied, not destroying anything and he was gurgling with joy, all of which qualified as good in his head, although that said he was probably going to get throttled for the gift he had got Harry. The quidditch mobile had taken him nearly a month to construct and then charm but he was pretty sure he had perfected it, he was also pretty sure he would get hell from Lily tomorrow. Oh well time for his baby to go to bed, after all it was Christmas tomorrow.
