Hi guys! I have always wanted to do a Tarsus IV Fan fiction based on young Jimmy Kirk..or JT as the children called him. This will be my second story and I have another one coming up! I hope you all enjoy and reviews are greatly appreciated! Remember, I'm only sixteen, I still have a long way to go!

The boys lay on their backs side by side staring up through the open roof of the abandoned building. Jimmy clutched Tom's hand in anticipation as the ground shook and a roar filled the air. Tiny pebbles danced up from the ground around them and dust ran like water off the crumbling walls. The shaking increased and he had to release Tom's hand to cover his eyes. Smoke billowed up into the air, as a streak of phaser fire ahead of them hit its target. The boys froze, as they heard a thump of what was left of the phaser's victim. After what seemed like a life time, Jimmy rolled to his side and propped himself up on one arm. Dust had accumulated on Tom's hollow, tan cheeks and Jimmy fought the urge to wipe it away. It had been like this for how long? Too long. Jimmy thought. How much longer could they hold on to their fragile grasp on life? With a wary sigh, Jimmy climbed to his feet then turned to help Tom up.

"Come on Tom. It's getting late. We need to get back to the others or they'll start to worry." He grasped Tom's had and together they slunk through the abandoned buildings. Kodos' soldiers were everywhere, marching through the streets looking for escaped colonists, so they had to be extra careful. The final words before the massacre came back to haunt Jimmy,

"The revolution is successful, but survival depends on drastic measures. Your continued existence represents a threat to the well-being of society. Your lives mean slow death to the more valued members of the colony; therefore, I have no alternative - But to sentence you to death. Your execution is so ordered, signed Kodos, governor of Tarsus IV."

Kodos' words had echoed through the too-silent streets, ringing in Jimmy's ears as he had realized that he was one of the 4,000 people who Kodos had decided to be executed. But he, Jimmy, had fought. He had fought and ran because his life depended on it. He had fought…because there was no such thing as a no-win scenario. Later, after he had escaped, he had found others, other children who had escaped or hid from Kodos' soldiers. The few children that he did find, he had added to his growing number of mouths to feed. Never once did he mind picking up another stray, but he always had to worry about food and making sure that none of his children were caught by the hunters that went sent after the few that had escaped Kodos' massacres. Jimmy, or JT as the children called him, was all the protection that the children had. He was their only hope of survival.

Sighing once more, Jimmy opened his eyes, refusing to neglect his self-assigned duties. These children were his now and he would take care of them, no matter what it cost him. He didn't know when this nightmare would end – or how it would end, but he would fight tooth and claw for the lives of his children. They needed his protection and courage, for somehow they would survive.

We will survive. Jimmy thought.

We will survive.
