Akihito sighed, stuffing his hands in his pockets, his shoulders slumping forward. The sky was shining, the birds were singing, and he was meeting Mirai early this morning.
It was a terrible day.
…
Hiroomi smiled as he walked up to the roof to relax.
Today had been a great day so far. His precious little sister had been surprisingly sweet to him. He wasn't sure why, but he wasn't going to complain or ask questions. If she called him "Onii-chan" earlier that morning and blushed at her own words, he would simply enjoy it and bask in her affection.
He paused, blinking as he arrived at his usual spot. Akihito was there. His eyebrows furrowed, surprised that the younger man was on the roof, but he shrugged it off.
He walked up slowly, sneaking behind him and kneeling down. In a practiced motion, he stuck his hands underneath Akihito's armpits.
Akihito jerked slightly, moving away from Hiroomi, but there was no other reaction.
Hiroomi frowned and sat next to Akihito. His lack of reaction was troubling. There normally would have been a yell.
"Yo, Akkey."
There was a shrug of Akihito's shoulders, but nothing was said. In fact, the mood plummeted.
Hiroomi paused, his mind racing. And then he realized.
After all, why else would his sister be so nice to him?
A small smile came to his face and he sighed. He swayed slightly, bumping his shoulder purposefully into Akihito's. He rested it there, staying in place.
"It's that day, isn't it?"
Akihito turned from him, and Hiroomi knew that he action stemmed from shame. But there was nothing for him to be ashamed of. Not anymore.
"Akihito…"
"I'm sorry," he whispered, barely stopping his voice from cracking.
"I forgave you a long time ago."
Ahikito turned to him, an indefinable look on his face. Hiroomi bumped into his shoulder again.
There were no more words spoken between the two of them. Just a comfortable, understanding silence.
…
It had started raining later in the day, and the sky was dark, grey and gloomy. Akihito didn't have an umbrella, and he was soaked by the time he got home.
It hadn't been that bad of a day after all.
