A/N: the song in the story [between the _ parts] is called SUDDENLY by O-Town. I realize there isn't much story here, so if you don't like it, don't read it!!

Suddenly

Dean sighed, laying back on his bed. Once again, he thought of Rory. He couldn't help it; he had taken the breakup hard.

--

She said it wasn't my fault

She said we gave it our all

As she walked away

I never saw a girl's eyes so blue, no

Tell me is there something I can do?

But leave another message on the telephone

And you're parked outside with your headlights on

--

Dean stood up and went over to the phone, dialing Rory's familiar number, before he could chicken out. She answered on the second ring, and he hung up on her. He decided it would be better to just show up at her door. Talking to someone in person is always better than talking to them on the phone.

--

Suddenly I'm standing at your door

And the steps don't feel like they did before

The radio's playing loud, but it's not our song

--

It felt weird being at her house, knocking on her door. He realized that he had to either knock louder, or just forget about it altogether, because they had their music turned up.

He walked over to the window by the door and peeked in, being careful to stay in the shadows so they didn't see him.

He took a deep breath, feeling a pain in his chest. He had a perfect view of Rory sitting on the couch...with Jess. They were sitting awfully close, and--he waited until Rory turned her head slightly--yup, they were kissing.

--

Suddenly he's all alone with you

He's looking in your eyes like I wanted to

I knock four times and pretend you're not at home.

Suddenly I'm all alone...Suddenly I'm all alone

--

Dean thought back to the day that it had happened. The day he had let Rory go. It wasn't at the dance marathon, though, but the day that they had auctioned off the baskets.

He had tried to stop her from going with Jess, but had failed miserably. Once again, somehow he had looked like the bad guy.

He blamed himself for that day, thinking that there was something more that he could have said or done. But in the end, he just let her go. And it all went downhill from there.

--

She said it wasn't the same

She said our life's been so plain

Then she walked away

--

Now she was with him, Jess. And in the meantime, Dean called and hung up on her, and walked to her house and spied from the window. Pretty pathetic.

--

I wanna make things brand new

Tell me is there something I can do?

But leave another message on the telephone

And you're parked outside with your headlights on

--

Dean slowly walked home, feeling as depressed as he could ever remember being. He knew he would eventually get over Rory, but it kind of hurt that she was able to move on so quickly.

He kicked at a rock that had appeared on the ground before him, and he turned onto his street, slowing down as he neared his house. He didn't feel like going home just yet. Passing up his house, he kept on walking and stopped in front of Luke's. It was nearly empty, as it was just about closing time. He walked in, sitting at the counter. He glanced around but didn't see Luke.

He sighed, his eyes focusing on the coffeepot a few feet away from him. He went over and got his own coffee. After he had finished the cup, Luke still had yet to make an appearance, so Dean just placed some money on the counter and left, heading home.

Suddenly I'm all alone...

-The End

A/N:: I don't know where this came from, but I was listening to this song and thought about Dean. I wrote it the other day, but didn't think it was coming out like I had hoped, so I stopped writing it. Then I finished it today, and figured since I added my other story I hadn't intended on posting ['A Kiss of Insomnia'], I might as well add this one.
