I don't own Teen Titans...
Grey.
That's where I'd been all my life.
In the grey. Straddling the fine line between black and white. The line unnoticeable to the naked eye and commonly ignored or overlooked. To most people things are in black and white.
No color.
No sudden movements, actions, nor thoughts. Just black and white. See as the human race we fail to see the world in all of its colors; from the palest ivory to the deepest ebony.
Just stuck in the same okey-dokey because if you never heard of something different how can you search for it?
How does she know, you may ponder. Concur; you see amongst the mundane blacks and whites there is a sliver of grey where the two colors collide and bleed into one another. Like the shadows of a painting; just the slightest hint of a medium color where darkness and light meet.
That's where I am.
Stuck in the land of the in-between, not going one way yet not going the other. It isn't from lack of trying to escape.
I've scouted the countless musty pieces of parchment in my library until all of the texts melded into one big, angry word: FAILURE. I guess Beast Boy was right for once in his life; books can't fix everything.
We'd all like to think that we are smarter and better than the next person and the last generation but honestly half of us are stuck in the grey too. It's just a rhythm that has become our lullaby over the centuries and lulled us into a false sense of originality.
Emotions aren't needed in the grey so pack your bags folks and leave your sentiments at home.
Grey is the embodiment of irreproachable.
Subtle and suave in its pursuit and never giving the illusion that's it's bad for you until it has latched onto you and sucked you dry.
There's no first class "silver" seats, only grey. Grey is dangerous but alluring, certainly a lethal combination if nothing else.
Come here, it says.
You'll be safe, it says.
We'll take care of you, it says.
Its role in human life is morbidly hilarious like those young girls getting the blood sucked out of them in the old vampire movies and quite enjoying it.
Grey.
It numbs the sting with a dose of euphoria and after awhile it just snatches the steady supply of dopamine and leaves you high and dry like drug addicts in rehab. It coddles you for the first few years of "life" and then abandons you like a Mother would do a child they no longer care for.
You see grey doesn't affect just you and I. It's accepting any and all applicants. From the richest lawyers and doctors to the young lady in stilettos working a street corner.
People misunderstand grey and how far it will go to get the best mindless fool for it to feed off of. Abandon all hope ye who enter here for grey is relentless.
I speak from past experience.
That's right.
Past. I found my burst of color to diffuse the grey. Ugh of all hues it had to be green but just any color wouldn't have made a difference.
We all have our specific colors that can nullify the long-lasting effects of grey. I've found my color, sure. The question remains; have you found yours?
I was feeling kind of sad because I didn't get that much response from the ending of The Gender Bent Chronicles and I already had this written so I just made this a Raven drabble... thing. So yeah... :(! Feeling kind of crappy but I'll survive and I still love you all! As far as reading it, just read it slowly and not too fast or the flow will be off. Pause when necessary lol other than that do what you want!- Updated and I'm sorry about that long ass paragraph!- Much love CeruleanLover:)!
