Lee Adama wakes up to the blessed warmth of Earth and smiles sleeply. It's been two years since they arrived on this planet and he is still marvelled, every day, by its warmth.
When the time came to choose the place in the planet where he was going to settle for the rest of his life, his only concern was "somewhere warm". He was tired of the cold hallways of spaceships and cockpits. He missed feeling the summer breeze.
He turns to his side and watches his wife still sleeping, long dirty blond hair fanned out in the pillow, hand tucked protectively around her growing belly. In the cot next to theirs, his daughter -- his daughter -- is still asleep, hugging a one-eyed doll.
So, Roslin was right after all. He did get his bright shiny future. And it's warm. So very warm.
He runs a finger across his wife's hair. She is so beautiful, she still takes his breath away. He is so in love with her, he doesn't think it's possible, sometimes. Maybe it has to do with Earth, with being together here, having a family, facing happiness together. Maybe it has to do with the way she makes him rest easy, be himself. She always had that particular talent. Maybe it has to do with their history.
He takes a deep breath in rememberance. They made it. Against all odds. Against all his mistakes. Truth is: he always loved her. From the day he met her, there wasn't a single day he didn't think about her. But he messed that up the first time. He still remembers the high, the feeling when he was minutes away from dragging her to live with him forever, so many years ago now. He still remembers the shock when she left him. The emptiness. He tried to stay away from her from then on. He forced himself not to think about her, not to worry. He had duties, responsabilities.
He never really forgot about her, though. He thought he lost her forever. When she disappeared out of his life, after a few months, he really, honestly, thought he'd never see her again.
And then, a few months after they settled on Earth, when he finally decided where in the planet he was permanently staying, he found her again. Or she found found each other. They caught each other's eyes in the middle of the group gathered to see the last time they'd ever witness a raptor fly. He stepped out of the cockpit, ready to face his new home and the first thing he saw was her smile. It was a sign from the Gods.
He married her the next week.
She nuzzles against his neck now and he kisses her forehead.
"Morning, sleepy".
"Hey… morning", she yawns. "How long you've been up?"
"Not long…", he smiles. Something in his eyes flicker and she makes a wondering face.
"What?"
"Nothing… just thinking…", he puts his hand on her belly, looks up at her face and smiles. "… of how much I love you. How happy I am…with our family, Shevon."
He kisses her. And, like every morning on Earth, he feels even warmer.

AUTHOR's NOTE: Ok, I know, I'm sorry. That was kind of mean to the K/L shippers out there… but I just wanted to write a fic where Lee doesn't spend eternity alone. His father is gone, Laura and Dee are dead and Kara goes puff. I wanted him to have his bright and shiny future and I didn't want it to happen with someone he never met before. So there you have it. Hope I didn't upset anyone. ;)
