And darkness was cast over the land as the sun fluttered away over the rocs. The white light had passed under the darkness. A faint smell of cinnamon was on the open air. Sand dunes lined the horizon- not a single maker stretched out before the glow of the stars. The sky was cloudless- alight with only the fires of the night.
It was a clear night- good for traveling without disruption, but also good for hunting. Her steps were staggered, even under the cover of dark. The sands shifted with the movement of her feet: a few steps here, a shuffle there- anything to sound like the wind moving the grains.
Soft winds hummed on the air. A slight storm was coming- a gentle one it may be...yet shelter was still needed. Pulling her hood closer, she trudged on in the erratic pattern of movements. Her fully blue tinted eyes could barely make out the cave in the rocks ahead as the wind mixed with the landscape of sand swirled around her. She paused...listening to the air; barely anything could be heard with the whistle of the wind.
The staggered walking continued until the dark arches of the brown stone appeared in her line of sight. Ducking gently under the smooth surface, she crawled inside.
The cave was small and dark; whirring of sand could still be heard through the think walls. A smell lingered- the ashes of a fire stood toward the far wall...a pack remained. Ever so carefully her fingers pulled the pack. She nimbly opened the main pocket to sift through the contents. Setting an empty food wrapper on the floor, she continued searching. The smell of fresh spice caught her nose. Someone had been here not 20 minutes ago...that someone would be coming back.
