Chapter 1 ~Introduction
"Mazuki Makukatooto read page 7 the second paragraph please," said Mrs. Koyotto. "We all have within our reach, the potential to do great things. The difference between the possible and the impossible is sometimes merely perception and attitude. It's the ability to dream beyond ourselves, beyond our own strength and have a faith to believe in the unbelievable. Limitations are the product of the world... Possibilities, the product of faith. We can expect nothing more than that which we believe possible," she said. "Thank you Miss Makukatooto. Mr. Jijjio would you read the next paragraph?" As he was reading Mazuki was drawing not paying attention.
"Thank GOD Mrs. Koyotto's class is over!" said one of Mazuki's friends. "Yeah! Her class is so boring!" said the other. "Well I don't really know, cause I never pay attention in that class." "How can you get a straight 1 in her class if you don't pay attention?" "I guess luck?" "No." "Okay fine. I might pay attention when Mokiyo reads..." Mazuki's friends giggle. "Hey! What is so funny?" "Nothing!" They girls walk down the hall talking about the book they were reading. "Hey Mazuki, how can you read with such a strong voice?" "I always have been that way, it is just you two were never in any of my English classes." "True that." The other agrees. "Besides Dare to Dream isn't very hard to read, if you know how to read it for the 5th time." The girls laugh as the get into the cafeteria.
School has ended after their lunch. "Yay! No more high school!" "Yeah off to collage now!" "But Summer Vacation First!" A bunch of boys yelled in the crowd of graduated Seniors. "Wow can they ever behave their age?" "Sorry Mazuki. Boys will always be boys." "And what about girls?" They all giggle. "Girls will be..." they say together",GIRLS!" They laugh walking down the street. "So, like we disused, party at my house tomorrow! Don't be late!" "Yeah we know Niji." As they say good bye they all went their own separate ways.
The next day had arrived. Mazuki was at her house getting ready for the party. "Ma do you have my Flip flops?" A yes was said in a reply. "Can I have them back now?" Her mother walked back in the room with her Flip flops in her hands. "My oh my. Look at you. All grown up. Going to collage. Hm... Makes me jealous." "Come on Ma." They laughed. "Well I should be out of your hair now." She walks to the door way. "Have fun kiddo," she said in a small turn to her. "But not too much you hear?" Mazuki laughed. "Don't worry Ma. I'm not like that." Her mother walked away with an old woman smile on her face. Mazuki got her things and left out the door to Niji's house.
