Just a small one shot to feed my Dr Who obsession! Disclaimer: I own nothing.
You and I
Sitting in the cell, cold and shivering, an unconscious Amy Pond held tightly against him, the Doctor couldn't help but let his mind wander. He found himself thinking back to when he first met Amy, little Amelia Pond, living in Leadworth, afraid of the crack in her wall. He thought about the five minute trip he made, to be sure the TARDIS safe before he let the little girl on board. He thought, with a pang of guilt, about how that five minutes turned out to be twelve for the red headed Scott breathing against his chest in the dark.
'I am sorry about that you know.' He suddenly said, his voice roar and raspy with lack of use. 'I never meant to leave you, it's unforgivable in fact. And I'm sorry that nobody believed you, and thought you mad. How you're aunt forced four psychiatrists on you, to try and destroy that beautiful mind of yours.
I'll make it up to you though, Amy, I can defiantly promise you that.
You and I, we'll travel the world. The universe in fact! This, right now, this is only the beginning. Sure we've seen war time London, and a Star-Whale transporting the whole of Earth to a new world. But that's nothing Amy, nothing to what I want to show you!
Me and you, we'll run till we're laughing ourselves breathless like we do. Sure, there are times, like now, when I make mistakes, and worst yet, you get hurt. But I'm trying Amy. I'm trying to make it up to you, and till the end of time I'll protect you, no question there. You're so trusting and so generous in your forgiveness. If somebody had kept me waiting, I would have done a lot worse then hit them with a bat!'
He laughed, his hand idly stroking her russet red locks as he continued opening the contents of his mind and heart to the sleeping girl. He had already checked to see if she was seriously hurt, but he found only a small concussion. She should wake up soon, and knowing Amy Pond, she'll instantly smile and laugh and pretend like she's invincible.
'If only you were.' The Doctor suddenly said, a lot more darkly. 'But you're not. None of you are, all of you. Donna, Martha…Rose.' He stuttered, falling silent with a firmly lodged frown.
'Still,' He suddenly chirped his gentle lilt back again. 'There's no point in fretting over the future, when I've got what I want right here and now. That's right Amy…' He continued in a soft, lilting voice. 'You're what I want. You make things better; you and your feisty Scottish attitude and flaming hair to match. I don't deserve you, not one bit, but my am I happy I crash landed in your garden, all that time ago.' He smiled brightly in the dark, listening for a moment at her quiet breathing.
'And the sooner you wake up, we can get going you know. I've got the perfect place to take you next, it's a world with three sun's and thick purple sand. You'll love it I know! Or we could just take it easy for a while, back home; in the TARDIS. I'll even make you a hot coco which I know you like despite how you moan at me for making it too frothy!' He laughed. 'So, Amelia Pond, the girl who waited, what do you say? You and I- travelling the universe, hand in hand. Sound good to you?'
