AN: This idea has been in my head since the series premiere. I was so mad when Bobo made fun of Rex's joke, because he wasn't trying to be funny. He was trying to get rid of the tense atmosphere! Duh!

"But you know the best thing about amnesia? . . . I forgot!"

"Pfft! You call that comedy?"

-Rex and Bobo, "The Day That Changed Everything"

It was a lame joke. Pathetic, really. They both knew it.

But that's why they laughed. Because otherwise, what else could they do? What else could they say?

So they laughed.

It was all he could do, most of the time. He fought against his own kind, knowing all that time that if he failed, Providence would not hesitate to finish the job.

Permanently.

So he cracked jokes and made light of the situation.

They both knew it was a lame joke. But they laughed anyway.

Together.

And that was all that mattered.

With that shared laugh, they became friends.

AN: My first attempt at a drabble and a Generator Rex fic. That's two in one shot! Woohoo! I hope you all enjoyed it. Please let me know what you thought!
