I have decided that I will be making this since a bit came from a dream. Now, I am making a story from that dream.
I am about 18 years of age girl. Not that young, but young enough. I have brown hair that goes to my mid-back with gold tints in them. My eyes are blue with a bit of gold if the light hits it right, but it looks grey in the center other than that. My skin is white, but I have a tiny bit of tan, so I am not pale. I don't get enough sun after all, so my tanning isn't the right amount. I am a sweet and gentle girl. I get shy easily and scared. I don't like elevators, needles, or going upside down. I am not much of a human baby fan, I honestly don't know why. If you get on my bad side, I will want to feel like clawing your throat out, despite I never will, I am too innocent for that. I love nature and taking a walk through the woods on the darkest night with only the stars and the moon for light. I am a winter gal as well, I can't deal good in the heat or my stamina is trained. Um... Sorry. I know you guys don't want to hear about me. Let's get on with the story.
I was walking around town when I noticed this old store. The whole building seemed to have a western style to it with wood being its color and everything. I scanned the top of the building for the name. "Artifacts" was all I could see. I was intrigued at the thought of what kind of artifact there were inside, so I decided to walk inside to check it out. It was wood themed as well. No one was inside when I looked for someone. I proceeded to walk on the wooden floor that was creaking. It was not as noisy as I would have expected, but it still made me feel like it would give way from under me. I looked at all sorts of artifacts ranging from skeletal systems to jewelry and other artifacts, all being incased by glass. The place looked old like no one has been here in a long time. I was looking at really strange artifacts when a red shimmer caught my interest, and I looked over to the object. There lay a crystal-like capsule with a red glow. It was laying on a display with no casing. What happens if someone comes in and steels the red object? I looked at the glowing crystal for a bit. I decided to take a closer look. As I got closer, it got brighter. I wanted to pick it up but did not see no price anywhere. I left it to look around more. I noticed that as I walked away, the red crystal dimmed. I stopped and turned. I wanted to try something out, so I inched closer and the crystal brightened again. My blood ran cold when it did this. It was like the crystal was calling out for me through brightening and dimming its light. I was standing right in front of it again. I wanted to grab it and go, but that would be considered stealing.
"You like the crystal?" Asked a lady at the counter.
I jumped from her unexpected voice nearly falling forward. As I regained my balance, I looked over to see the lady standing there behind the cashier desk. 'She wasn't there before.' I thought. 'Maybe she was just in the back.' I looked over the woman to see no back door. 'Okay. Definitely has not been in the back. How did she get there?' I realized I was staring at her and leaving her question hanging. "U...uh. Y...yeah." I look to the crystal. "It is pretty."
"Bring it over." The woman offered with a gentle smile. You could say she wasn't exactly young.
"A...alright." I stammered as I carefully picked it up. I held it in my hands, as I stared at the bright red crystal. It gave off energy that vibrated throughout my body. I walked over to the woman with the glowing crystal. Holding the crystal over the counter, as I leaned on it.
The woman grabs the crystal, and the light dimmed dramatically in her hands. "Hmm..." She thought, as she handed the crystal back. The crystal immediately vibrated with energy, as the light grew bright again. "I have never seen it glow that bright before." She thought. "You know, why not keep it."
"I can keep the crystal?" I thought with shock. The energy increased as if it was pleased with the idea.
The woman nods. "It obviously likes you better than others that have been checking it out."
"How much is it?" I asked, as I rushed to get my money out of my pocket.
"Free of charge." The woman smiled gently. "You don't need to pay for it. I simply found it. I don't know its real value like the rest of the store's artifacts."
"Thank you so much." I dipped my head holding the crystal with pleasure.
The woman went back to her own work. I shrugged it off as I left the store. At the door, I looked back to thank her again, but she wasn't at the desk anymore. Again, my blood ran cold more out of a mixture of fear and shock. I looked to the crystal, in my hands, to notice that it wanted me to go somewhere. I followed where it brightened the most. It was leading me to the dinosaur museum.
The last time I went into one was when I was little. I used to be a very much of a scaredy cat. Getting scared from simple little things. I walked in and saw the hanging pteranodon skeleton with lights changing behind it. I thought it was moving and I freaked out. I ran out but one of my teachers had calmed me down and we went in together. As I re-entered the building, I looked at the dinosaur again but it did not move. I stayed beside my teacher longer as we looked around, checking everything out. I had fun there. I especially loved the pteranodon and the giant snake that lived millions of years ago.
I stopped at the museum and wondered what to do next. The crystal wasn't giving me directions anymore. I decided to look around. I went inside the museum. Surprisingly, I did not have to pay. I don't even remember if we had to pay in that other museum either. I walked around checking out the fossils. It was nice till I was greeted by a serious looking woman. I quickly put the crystal in my pants as she walks up to me.
"What did you just put in your pocket?" She asked.
I stared at her dumbfounded. "Uh... It was a crystal I accidentally brought with me from home." It was a terrible lie.
It looked like the woman even noticed it too. "May I see it?" She asked obviously curious by the crystal.
"Will you take it?" I glared cautiously. I did not want my crystal taken after getting it for the first day.
"Just show me." Her expression was very serious. I reached into my pocket to bring the crystal out again. Nervously, I opened my hand to reveal the glowing red crystal. It was still very bright. The woman stares at it for a bit. "Where did you find this?"
I looked at her suspiciously. "A lady at an artifact place said I can have it."
The woman thought for a moment before looking at me. "Come with me." She ordered, as she began to walk away in a quick mannered pace. I quickly put the crystal back in my pocket, and scurried after her. I noticed this guy staring at us before deciding to follow, then joined by one more. I was very nervous. Were they undercover agents? I was getting scared till we stopped at the door. The woman made sure no one was around before opening the door and entering. I followed inside and so did the two. We ended up in the back of the museum. The woman led me outside of the building. Looking around for a moment, she looked back toward me. "You need to head into that mouth over there." She said as she pointed to what looked like a T-Rex head with its mouth open as wide as possible.
I looked to her nervously. "But that is just a statue of a T-Rex's head. Am I hiding from someone or something?" I asked.
The woman wasn't pleased by my nervous attitude. "Just go into the T-Rex mouth. You will see what happens then." She said as she turned to the two. "Aren't you two supposed to be working?" The two guys was about to say something before keeping their mouths shut. The woman walks back into the garage, and the two guys followed the woman back inside.
I nervously turned back to the T-Rex head. I looked over to where the woman left, but she had already disappeared. I looked back to the head, and walked forward nervously. I neared the mouth and looked at the head, staring at the details that was carved into it. I touched the head to feel the details only to notice my crystal was glowing again. I pulled it out of my pocket and saw it bright red, as I brought it in the opposite direction of the head, it dimmed; when I brought it back to the head, it brightened. That was when I noticed something odd about the opened mouth. I stepped closer and carefully peered inside. It was oddly dark going down it seems. I leaned over too far, and lost my balance. I tumbled down into the darkness on a slide. That is odd. What is a slide doing here? I ignored the thought as I realized what might be at the end of the slippery ride, especially since I was sliding down head first.
I tumbled off the slide and onto the hard earthy ground. I ended up with a few scratches but they were minor. I slowly rose with a faint grunt to look around to see where I was. I had entered a room with computers placed in a circle in the center of the room. It looked like it was in a cave. I then realized my crystal was not on me anymore. I looked around frantically. "Man, I just got it, where can it be?" I asked frantically. I was looking around for the crystal , so I did not notice someone standing in the center of the computers. I looked around fearfully when I turned to face the person. My heart nearly leaped out as I jumped from shock. He was quietly standing there. I put a hand over my chest and also kept silent. We stared at each other till he reached out his hand and gestured me forward. I slowly walked up to the guy.
He did not look human at all. As I stepped in the center of the computers with him, still looking to me. "Do you have the Energem?" He asked out of nowhere.
I stared at him confused. "The what?" I asked. I have clue what he just asked for.
"The Energem. Do you have it on you?" He asked.
"What is an Energem." I asked. Then I thought of something. "If you are talking about that red crystal I had, I lost it."
"Is that it?" He points to the dimmed crystal laying in the dirt.
"H...how did I miss that? It was right under my nose." I quickly went over to the crystal, and grabbed it from the ground as it brightened again. I turned to the gut to walk back.
A smile was formed on the guy's lips as he stared at the crystal, pleased. "It has chosen its ranger." He spoke half to himself.
I stare at him confused. "Okay, I am confused. What is a ranger and an Energem?" I asked obviously dumbfounded.
"An Energem is what you have there, and a ranger is what the gem can unlock." He explained.
"So, what, I go and watch over a forest or something in a ranger's suit?" I asked not very much understanding.
"No." He shakes his head. "You will learn what it means soon. For now, why not set the crystal over there." He points to a shelf like whole in the wall. Two different crystals already set in it. I walked over nervously as I placed the Energem inside. The Energem automatically shot into place. I jumped at this, and then turned to the guy to walk back to him. "I am Keeper." He randomly introduces.
"Silver." I introduce back, nervously. "Um... I need to leave."
"Very well. Please do come back tomorrow." Keeper said.
"I will." I replied. Before I turned away, I looked to Keeper. "Um..." I grew red faced. "May I try something?" I asked.
"What is it?" He asked.
Without warning, I embraced him with a hug. He was stunned for a bit before resting one arm around my back, hugging me in return. It only lasted a few seconds before I pulled away. I could not believe what have just done. "Sorry." I apologized. I had hugged someone I had just met. What was I thinking?
Keeper was still stunned for a bit before replying. "It is fine." He reassured with a gentle smile.
"I...I had to get that out of system for some unknown reason." I stammered a bit. "I...I must get going now." I turned and headed out, my face still red. I faced Keeper once more, bowing to him with a thank you before walking away.

I was sitting at a dinning area in the museum. I had ordered a drink with sweetened iced tea. I was thinking of what just happened. Was I dreaming? I pinched myself. "Ow." I winced. 'Nope, definitely not dreaming,' I spoke to myself. I had earned suspicious glares from people near me who heard my 'ow'. I looked only to my drink feeling as if I was the center of attention. I began to shake when I noticed that people were back to their conversations again.
"Do you want to order anything?" Came a voice which made me jump.
I looked up to her. I looked to her badge. It had a Stegosaurus symbol on it with her name being Shelby. I never really liked that dinosaur. I usually went with the Raptors(like Velociraptor, Utahraptor, and Microraptor), Pteranodons, and Spinosaurous. I thought for a moment. "No, I a fine."
Shelby obviously saw something wrong. "Well, alright." She was hesitant before walking away to another table."Call me if you need anything."
I nodded slightly as I stared at my tea. That was when I noticed that woman walking into the area. I tried to hide, despite I wasn't very much trying.
She noticed me and walked over. She stood there and looked at me before speaking, "And how did it go?"
I did not look at her. "You did not say there is an alien living here." I spoke quiet enough so that only the woman heard.
"You know you will start working here right?" She asked ignoring what I had just said.
"He said nothing of working here. I have a sick mother to tend to." I said, though, I preferred to stay at the museum more than going home. I never could deal with sick people well.
"Well, I am telling you now." She said.
"Good to know." I said not very much into the idea of working at this certain location. "But I can't work at the food section."
"That was my plan." She points out.
"I will be a terrible waiter, and I am not very good with cooking meat." I said.
"Shelby isn't a good waiter either." She said.
"But my back." I was about to protest.
"You are only working here as a cover, nothing more." She stops what I wanted to say.
"Would have been nice to know ahead of time." I said, as I kept my eyes to my drink. I did not look at her because it felt like I was staring, and staring is impolite. Besides I can't listen to people well if I have eye contact with them. "I will start tomorrow if that is alright with you. I just need a little time to process this."
"Alright," she agreed. "You have till tomorrow to start your job. She walks away without another word.
I stared after her not really knowing what happened. I decided to just finish my drink and head home. Might as well tell my parents about the random new job, right?

On the way home, it was dark. I had spent most of all day at the museum till closing time. It was a nice night to walk home. I neared the door when I noticed the lights were off. 'That is strange.' I thought to myself. 'Usually my dad would be up at least.' I inched closer when I heard something inside my house. I got real nervous at this point. I just hoped it was just my dog, Rusty, scuffling around. As I grabbed the keys out to unlock the door, I heard Rusty barking. This made me terrified. I quickly, and nervously, opened the door. Just as I opened the last lock, I heard Rusty whimper. The door flew open to reveal the dark house. I looked around to see no one. 'What am I doing?!' I scold myself. 'Call the police, don't be a hero.' But my legs kept moving, and I had entered the house fully. There was nothing in sight that I could grab. I just had to hope that this guy would just leave and never come back. I noticed a lump on the ground in the living room, and made my way slowly over to it. As I neared, it took the shape of Rusty. I quickly checked to see if he was dead or knocked unconscious. It is not easy finding a dog's vein to check the heartbeat. I sighed with relief when I felt his heartbeat.
"Your dog was lucky." I hear an unfamiliar voice. It was deep sounding like a bad nightmare had come true.
I jumped, and I turned to see who it was. A guy was standing in the shadows. It was hard to tell what this guy was wearing. "Get out of here or..." I was cut off from what I wanted to say.
"Or what? You will call for back up?" He sneered.
I gritted my teeth. I really was terrified not knowing what to do. I wanted to tell this guy off so bad, but doing so could cause me to get injured or worse...my life. I kept my mouth shut staying next to Rusty's side. Then a question popped into mind. "What did you do to my family?" I did not dare look at the guy.
"Unfortunately, your family are held captive." He sneers again. He picks up his weapon that had been laying on the ground, and simply walks out the door leaving Rusty and me alone in the darkened house.

I had no clue what happened next. All I know was that I was watching flashing lights outside my house signaling that the police had arrived. I was still with Rusty who still lay unconscious in front of me. I heard gun clicked, and sharply looked over to see about 3 armored police storm into my home guns at the ready. Light shun from their guns as they looked around. One of their lights shun on me. "Put your hands up!" The man ordered.
I was bewildered in fear as the gun pointed at me ready to fire any second. "I...I didn't do anything." I stuttered in fear. "Please, help my dog." By this time, I could not hold it back anymore, as tears of fear ran down my face.
The policeman obviously noticed the tears or he would have not lowered his gun. He looks around before back to me. "I need to get you out of here." He said as he grabbed my arm hauling me to my feet.
"What about my dog?" I cried out not wanting to leave him behind. I feared for his safety. Being unconscious and still breathing did not mean he was going to be okay or stay alive. I tried to pull away toward Rusty, but the policeman's grip was strong. I was eventually led out of the house. I was put into the police cruiser then he shuts the door on me and walks away. He momentarily walks to another policeman.
"What do we do with the dog?" Asked the man to another. I was able to hear them thanks to the window being cracked open.
"Make sure it is okay and not injured." Said the opposite man. "We don't want the girl throwing a fix." He looks warily to me then back to the other man. "If there is something we can do, bring the dog out, if not kill it." He ordered.
"Will do," the policeman nodded, as he went back inside.
At this point, I could not stand this any longer. I opened the cruiser's door, and fled the scene. I left the door open as I fled. Running seemed to be the only option on my mind right now. What I did not know was that the woman from the museum had stopped me by grabbing my arm. Her grip held firm, as she stood there watching the scene. "Let me go!" I panicked. I did not want to be anywhere near this place when, and if they shoot Rusty.
The woman still did not let me go. She then looks to me with a serious face, but it looked like she had a saddened expression. If there was any of it, it was gone now. "What happened?" She asked. I was still struggling to get freed, but her grip was strong. "I asked what happened." Her voice being a little firmer.
I completely collapsed to my knees, as I began to cry. I was so terrified I could not speak. Rusty was the only one in danger at the moment. "Please," I began to plead. "Don't let them kill my dog."
"Is this what it's all about?" Her voice gave off anger. "All this for your dog?"
I looked at her tears streaming down my cheeks. I only pleaded with my eyes.
She seemed to have given in. "Wait here." She orders as she lets go of my hand, and walks toward my house. The police had stopped her, but something that she said made them hesitate before stepping aside to let her through. I watched as she disappeared inside for a bit before walking out again; followed by the policeman and Rusty in his arms. The woman walked over to me. "Happy?" She asked not very pleased.
"Will he be okay?" I asked worried out of my mind.
"Yes," she said. "Not stop worrying. I had them do what they can for your dog." She then helps me up to my feet. "Now come on, you anyways have no place to stay, but know where you can go." She begins walking back toward the museum.
I followed behind nervously. 'Is this because I found that red gem?' I thought to myself making sure I kept up with the woman. 'Is this my fault?' I felt the tears still streaming down my face. 'Will Rusty and my family be alright?' Millions more questions came to mind, but none of them were spoken aloud.
