"I fail to see the purpose in this exercise." Seven said stiffly, one hand clutching a PADD, as usual, the other tapping out some complex equation on the control panel in front of her.
"C'mon, Seven, it'll be fun!" pleaded Tom Paris.
"I do not require fun. If you lack a legitimate reason for being in Astrometrics, exit immediately." She paused, remembering the Doctor's social lessons.
"Please."
Tom was not about to give up.
"Everyone requires a little fun, Seven! Even ex-Borgs."
Seven raised her right eyebrow, ocular implant gleaming.
"I have no interest in social gatherings, parties or otherwise."
"But it's Harry's birthday! I'm sure he'd love to see you there."
"Irrelevant." She replied, now double-checking her calculations on the PADD.
Tom sighed, then brightened as an idea began to form.
"It would be a great way to test out your new social skills..."
She paused, considering.
Social gatherings made her feel out of place and uncomfortable.
However, a party would be the perfect opportunity to collect accurate data on actual human behavior- much better then studying holograms, seeing as humans tended to be emotional and irrational, resulting in a hologram never capturing the true essence of the human spirit.
"Very well." She concluded. "I shall attend this... birthday party."
The Doctor would be proud.
