Chapter 1: How's this for a nice day?

My legs ached as bad as my back did as I spotted the group of survivors running down the boardwalk to a boat, I couldn't run to catch up, my bloated stomach made sure of that. I waved my arms instead, one of them saw me, a young girl... I hope my baby would be a girl, then I could dress her up in pretty dresses. As I drew closer, the blonde woman on the boat began shouting at the girl, I hurried to them, the girl helping me onto the boat before kicking away the plank, none of the skin waters could get us now.

We were safe.

"My name is Vida." I said as the blonde asked, she nodded with her arms crossing as she glanced back at the older man in the room. He left after that, I felt like smiling as she turned her back on me.

My plan was coming together!

I could hijack the boat and get myself to safely! These losers could stay here and die as long as my baby was safe.

"I'm Madison. Do you need anything?" The woman asked, I shook my head and gave her a small smile.

"Maybe a glass of water?" As she left the room, I got up and rubbed my belly, smile turning into a cruel smirk as I took her discarded gun. Leaving the room, I looked up and down the hall and then followed the voices to the main room, I sorted a few of Madison's group arguing, Madison included. They hadn't seen me as I slipped in, but hey heard as I noisily locked the door, barring it with a chair to stop it being opened at all.

"What're you doing Vida?" Madison asked, her brow furrowing.

"This boat... I need it." I stuttered, they frowned. "I need it to get someplace safe okay? I am not having this baby unless I am safe enough to do it."

"Are you sure you'll even have the baby? It hasn't moved the whole time you've been here has it? Is it even alive?" Madison asked scornfully, I glanced back at the rattling door handle.

"SHE has actually. Just a few minutes ago she was kicking he hell out of me. So don't try and scare me into not doing this cause it won't work. I snapped, she raised a single brow.

"Really?" I nodded. "Cause, your hands are shaking like mad."
