Chapter One: Fight of Your Life

From a distance, the town of Tremorton seemed peaceful. The birds were chirping, the sky was clear, and the town seemed to be bustling with life.

In the center of town, however, almost everything was destroyed. entire buildings ground into powder, craters and trenches proliferating the streets, an antique car driven through the roof of a Dairy Queen like a railroad spike, and the occasional scorch mark of a stray laser. All seemed quiet until out of the sky plummeted a light blue colored streak, leaving yet another twelve-foot hole in the asphalt on collision.

The smoke cleared, revealing the blur to be a severely damaged Jenny "XJ9" Wakeman, gritting her teeth from the "pain" of the crash. Her body was covered in dents and burns, accompanied by several holes in her outer casing from laser fire and shrapnel from explosions. One of her pigtails was half destroyed, the other was completely gone; her left leg was nothing but a twisted piece of scrap, and her right arm wasn't doing all too good either. Her damage sensors going haywire assessing the damage; she was clearly losing this battle.

Out of the sky floated a much more lightly damaged gray humanoid robot with black joint highlights. His head was incredibly articulate, made up of countless moving parts, and his outer casing and armoring was perfectly segmented for protection and mobility. He slowed as he approached the ground, arms crossed, eyes closed, shaking his head in disappointment. on his back, a large guillotine-like sword rested in a simple scabbard.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk," he clicked as he approached the ground, clearly not amused."what a shame. I could have sworn you offered more of a challenge. I mean, I haven't even drawn my blade yet!" he let out a sigh as he clutched the bridge of his nose. "Oh well. I guess it can't be helped," he murmured, landing at the edge of the crater.

'Damnit! I can't move,' she thought angrily, fighting an emergency shutdown. She could feel she was losing oil and battery acid internally and her coolant pressure dropping. already, her optics were beginning to lose focus and her motors starting to overheat.'I need to act fast, or I'm done for...'

At that moment, the other automaton began to reach for his sword, which was nearly the same length as his body.

"So sorry, my dear," he droned, his voice suddenly becoming chipped and distorted." but this has gotten boring." he opened his eyes, revealing them to be an eerie yellow color, no pupil.

As he drew his blade, it released an evil screech as it grinded against the scabbard. Jenny realized that there was more to the sound than scraping; there was something else to it. Something that made her systems lag for a split second.

'A high frequency vibration,' she realized. 'Set at the perfect frequency to rip apart the molecular bonds of... titanium-steel alloy. The exact material I'm made out of...' Jenny squeezed her eyes shut, preparing for the sharp bite of the massive slab of steel in his hands.

With sword poised to cleave her perfectly in half, the male robot cocked his head slightly, his mouth spreading into a twisted, Cheshire grin."Time to go to sleep, dear. Say hello to you precious humans for me!" he sounded in a high, almost sing-song voice. His smile gone, he lifted the gargantuan blade higher for momentum, and in that instant, Jenny's eyes snapped open and relieved beams of plasma, burning a hole straight through his head and creating a strange sound distortion from the release of the energy.

With his motor chip nothing but burnt plastic and melted metals, the male humanoid's hands released the handle of his oversized Claymore, which in turn drove itself through Jenny's abdomen. Her eyes widened as she let out a grunt, coughing out oil as the blade's owner crumpled into a pile in front of her.

"Well," he gasped, his eyes flickering as his internal generator slowed. "At l-least I'll take you with me..." and with that, his head lolled to the side and his eyes ceased to illuminate, replaced with a creepy grin and two black orbs, as dark and empty as space itself.

As Jenny lay there, pinned to the crater like a wounded butterfly in a glass case, feeling her life drain out slowly through the cracks in the pavement, she looked up to the sky, waiting for the cold embrace of death. As she lay there, she noticed movement on the horizon. when she zoomed in her optics to investigate, she saw it was the Skyway Patrol ship Mother Zeta.

"Well, it's about damn time!" she groaned in spite and relief.

From the massive airship came a bright beam of blue light, from which appeared Brad, Sheldon, Nora, and a handful of Skyway troops, all of which ran straight to Jenny.

"Took ya long enough," she said through a cough, a weak smile worming its way to her face.

"Sorry, Jen," responded brad. "But the evacuation took longer than expected. It's amazing how stubborn these people can be."

"Try not to talk, Jenny," Sheldon ordered, trying to asses the damage. 'Not good, really not good!' he thought.

"Brad..." Jenny shuddered out before being hit with a wave of damage reports, which her CPU translated into "pain".

" I'm right here," Brad said, grasping Jenny's hand.

'shit, I'm losing her!' Sheldon thought, panicking. 'Not like this, dammit! I refuse to lose her like this!'

"I-I'm scared," she whimpered, a tear of optical lubricant running down her cheek.

"Rrrrrraaagh, DAMMIT!" Sheldon screamed, standing up and kicking the mechanical monster who did this to her.

"I'm right here, I won't leave you!" brad managed, holding back tears himself. "I won't let you go! Jenny? Jenny?!"

Power levels too low to power her sensors, she turned her gaze to the sky, and as her eyes began to close, she realized...

'I'm going to die...'
