The Prayer that will never be heard

Lydia and Edgar fought yet again and here is Ania's love, Edgar, drinking again troubled of his Earl problems and Lydia being angry with him for some reason that she never bother to ask. Though she can't blame Lydia for being too wary of the earl; since he is flirtatious by nature but Ania is sure that deep down, Lydia truly trust and love Edgar. The one thing she can never be a match for. For Ania, just being able to be by her earl's side is more than enough for her. The love she harbors for him will be forever be hidden in her heart, even though the pain of knowing that the person she loves is with someone else, it's worth it for her since he is happy.

Edgar was so drunk that he had been muttering Lydia's name like he was chanting it as a prayer, muttering that he wants her by his side. Ania watched Edgar as he was passed out from drinking, a sad smiled had formed to Ania's perfect pink lips as she stares at the sleeping form of Edgar under the moonlight.

"Good night… my lord…" Ania muttered as she stroked Edgar's hair away from his beautiful face calming the lord.

The next day, Ania woke at Edgar's bedside; she was sitting on a chair and was holding his hand. This brought smile to her lips for a bit and a faint blush had formed on her cheeks thinking 'Edgar, I wish you'd love me too'. But this fantasy of hers ended as fast as it came when Edgar woke in alarm.

"Lydia!" Edgar exclaimed as he pulled Ania's hand.

"Good morning Edgar." Ania greeted with a smile "Sorry to disappoint you but I'm not Lydia, you must be dreaming of her leaving you? Don't worry 'kay? She won't. Bedsides, you hired me for that wish to come true right?"

"Ah… Thank you. You really are my guardian angel" Edgar said smiling at her.

"A fallen one though" Ania said joking. "I'll go tell Raven you're awake. Get ready now 'kay? Lydia will be arriving soon and yes, I explained why you had to be a flirt with those girls so you're off the hook now"

"Thanks, I owe you again"

"Don't mention it. I'm your dark angel, I'll protect you and Lydia" Ania said smiling and then she exited the room, as soon as she left the room her beautiful smile had faded. 'Have I gotten used to smiling at him even though it hurts a lot?'

Raven, who is well aware of Ania's feelings towards their master, had witnessed this and he of course is in no position to interfere but all he had done was pat Ania's head. "You can cry. Don't hold it in" was all Raven had said. Ania threw herself on Raven and hugged him as she sobbed silently.

"A fallen angel's prayer will never be heard" this is the harsh truth, and Ania had accepted this a long time ago. But the pain will never fade, but her smiling masked will be her façade for as long as she has to, so that she could see her love's smile always.
