Apples

A/N: Just a short impulse ficlette, focused around episode 42. I hope you enjoy and REVIEW!!
Yoruichi sat in her cave, legs drawn to her chest as she watched Ichigo sleep. She remembered drugging him and having to carry him here, flash stepping the whole time, and was now thoroughly exhausted. She remembered Byakuya's shocked face as he their gaze met for the first time in over a hundred years. 'Had it really been that long?' Yoruichi thought to herself as she traced patterns in the dirt on the floor with her finger.
She remembered in her youth when she used to have foot races with Byakuya, he acted like such a big-shot know, she missed the old Byakuya, the one she fell in love with. 'I'm no doubt still faster than him, even after so little practice', she smiled to herself at the thought of his shocked face when she surpassed him, 'I'm still faster than him even as I'm holding that sack of bricks over there', she thought, referring to Ichigo.
She stood up going over into a corner of the cave retrieving a golden apple from a large sack, sinking her teeth into it. She savored the flavor remembering when she and Byakuya had relaxed in the fields eating these same types of apples as they relaxed. She remembered the first time they kissed, his mouth tasted like those sweet golden apples.
The apples also reminded Yoruichi of when she had been gone about fifty years and she received a hell butterfly from Byakuya telling her he had gotten married and he would have married her if she would have never left. She had crushed the poor butterfly in frustration as she cried, trying to remember those days of leisure they had once had. She had taken for granted those golden apples and foot races.
She held the half eaten apples to her mouth as she walked out of the cave's mouth, dangling her legs over the edge as she looked over the forest they had once frolicked in, "has it really been that long?" She whispered.
At that same moment Byakuya stood in his quarters in the Seireitei staring out at the sunset, "Yoruichi, has it really been that long? He whispered gently, biting into a golden apple.
A/N: Eep! I really like this! It was purely impulse but I still wanted it too be cute! But this is one of the only un-completely obvious het pairings I can see working and I'm sure this is really what happened between them haha! Enjoy and REVIEW!!
