i. first kiss
He was just trying to help her, y'know?
He didn't mean it.
He didn't really want to kiss her, but she was so upset, and it was just his nature to help people.
But now - God, what had he gotten himself into?
She wasn't some pretty girl who he'd take on a date and just forget about - she was his best friend. Or, at least, she had been.
He'd kissed her and he didn't know why and he didn't know what to do.

He found her sitting outside, alone, watching the trees move.
He sat beside her. "Hey," he said softly, taking her hand. She took one long look at him, and dropped her hand away from his.
So he kissed her again.
And so it started.

They broke up three months later.
She never spoke to him civilly again, despite him trying.

They would never have lasted anyway.
They argued from day one, and the arguments lasted until their last day together.
But occasionally he would glance at her to see how she was doing.
And she would miss the best friend that she had lost.

All that happens is that they fall apart.
