"Seph! Come look!"

He whirled around, searching, "Cloud?" He narrowed his eyes but did not see anyone. He let out a sigh, "Of course..." He turned his back to the door, choosing to looked at the garden they had built together instead. Sighing again, he let his head rest against the wall, "You're not here anymore, are you?"

"Well, someone's a grump pants today!"

He looked back again but of course, he saw no one. "And you aren't here either, are you, Zack?" He ran his hand through his hair scowling when he saw how it shook, "You two will never cease your tormenting, will you?" Cringing when he snagged a knot in his, he went to work on untangling it.

"Seeeeph, that's my job!"

He shook his head, "You're not here... Just stop..." He let his hands fall into his lap. He took a deep breath trying to calm his nerves and closed his eyes, but they immediately re-opened when he caught the scent of honey and pine. He looked around again but no one was there. "Stop! No more... Not you too, Zack."

"Awww, wittle Sephy's in bad mood again... Let me fix it for ya!"

He looked up glaring at the roof, "This is cruel! Making me hear them!" His voice carried through the empty house, "I know you hear me, cetra!" He felt his eyes burning, "You can't do this! I know they're... I know they're gone!" The ever strong soldier hit his breaking point.

He fell to his knees, the first time ever. He kept his eyes up even when tears made streaks on either side of his face, "But you can't keep tormenting me with them..." He lowered his head and wiped the tears away, "I-"

"Seph, are you okay?"

"Yeah, man, are you hurt?"

"Let me help you, Seph."

"Yeah! We'll make it all better!"

He threw his head back and screamed, "STOP!"

A soft voice broke through and whispered, "Never."

He collapsed sobbing, "I'm sorry... I'm sorry... I'm sorry." But he knew a thousand apologies would mean nothing. He had murdered his lovers in cold blood and nothing would ever make the guilt go away.
