"Do you even know what you're doing?"

"Relaaax, Beast Boy. I've done this a million times before."

He would have found it a lot easier to relax if he weren't on a rock that was speeding head-on towards another, with no sign of either of them stopping. Terra, who was standing next to him, had promised the experience would be better than any roller coaster or Ferris wheel. Beast Boy had been inclined to believe her before he actually had to experience it.

"Are you sure? 'Cause this doesn't really seem safe, and—"

The girl, her blue goggles guarding her eyes, cut him off. "Just grab my hand and close your eyes," she ordered him, her voice somehow managing to sound authoritative and calm at the same time. Without even giving him time to react, her hand reached out, her slender and ungloved fingers intertwining with his.

Whether his heart was racing because of the adrenaline or the sudden jolt of touching her skin, Beast Boy had no idea. He just knew he couldn't help doing what he told her. With his sight gone, he was paying more attention to everything else around him: The howl of wind rushing past his face; the scent of the summer evening blasting by at too many miles per hour; the rock underneath him, with small pebbles stinging his legs as they flew off while it raced even more quickly; and the tight grip of Terra's hand on his glove, the one assurance he had that he'd make it out of this alive.

The whole situation, though it was entirely new, seemed very familiar to him.

Her voice pierced the air with a simple and clear order. "JUMP!"

And then, all those familiarities were gone; destroyed, with the crack-smash of the rocks finally meeting. Beast Boy obeyed blindly and let momentum carry them forward and upward. Their footing lost, him with no idea of where they would go next, it was only Beast Boy, Terra, and the wind. His anchor to reality, his promise of safety, she never let go. He hoped she never would, lest he fall to the forces of gravity and be lost.

The wind came to a sudden stop.

For a moment, without the chaos to assure him he was still alive, he did feel lost.

Then the guardian voice that had been so silent once again spoke. "You can open your eyes now, Beast Boy."

The color came rushing back into his life, almost overwhelming him at first; though it had only been for fifteen seconds at most, it felt he had gone forever without it. With his vision clear again, his first sight was their hands, still holding on, never letting go. His second was the smiling face of his protector throughout this whole ordeal. His third, the new rock they stood on together.

"See? This wasn't so bad. Told you it'd be better than any coaster."

Beast Boy managed a laugh. "That was… really a trip."
