Disclaimer : If I owned Pushing Daisies, Olive and Ned would get together. No lie.

A/N: Short one-shot I wrote for a friend when I was bored. Don't expect much out of it.

"Olive have you ever felt alone?"

The Pie maker's words stung her body. She always felt alone, and it was his fault that she did.

All because of that annoying girl called Chuck.

"Yes Ned. I have."

They stood quiet for a moment, not daring to move. The Pie Hole had closed an hour earlier and they were the only two inside.

"Do you feel alone, now?"

"Like, right this moment?"

"Yes."

"Yes.

Olive didn't look at him. She couldn't understand how someone she loved so much could cause her so much pain inside.

After much inner turmoil, Olive started buffing the counter again. She figured if she finished quick enough, she would have enough time for a hot bath before bed. She needed to get Ned out of her system once and for all.

Ned put his hands in his pockets and nervously approached the waitress. He tried to find words that had evaporated into thin air. He cleared his throat to get her attention.

"Yes?"

"Why do you feel alone Olive."

Olive found it to be a simple question, yet she could not answer it so easily. In her head the words sounded right, but if they came out she could risk losing her job, friendship, and Ned.

"Because of you."

Her heart leaped and she instantly regretted saying it. She averted her eyes back to the counter. Buffing harder and harder.

"You shouldn't Olive."

"Well why not."

She whipped around to face him. His hands had come out of his pockets, and he placed them on her hips. His touch made her shiver. Not with cold, but with the feeling that something was going right.

"Because."

His lips brushed against hers, inviting them into a passionate kiss. She didn't know what to do with her hands at first, but she eventually found his neck to be the perfect place.

They lost their sense of time, but the their bodies remained in a flowing rhythm. Olive floated through the cosmos, touching the stars, touching Ned.

He paused to take a breath, and she did too.

"Because I love you."
