Summary: Gordo wants his turn!
***
"Hey, come with me." Gordo said, grabbing Lizzie by the arm as she passed by him on the way to lunch.
"Ok, not like I have a choice here." Lizzie replied, stumbling slightly to keep up.
Gordo looked back at Lizzie and grinned. Lizzie smiled back, feeling a little warmer than she did a minute ago in Advanced English.
***
He asked if I would come along
I started to realize-
That everyday you find
Just what he's looking for,
Like a shooting star he shines
***
Lizzie smiled as she looked over her whole town, spotting her house, Miranda's house, and Gordo's house from the top of Hillridge High.
"What is it with you and the tops of buildings?" Lizzie asked, looking at Gordo.
"It's a beautiful day and I thought we should take advantage of it. Almost as beautiful as you." Gordo smiled, looking up at the nearly-clear blue sky.
***
Just a day,
Just an ordinary day.
Just trying to get by.
Just a boy,
Just an ordinary boy.
But he was looking towards the sky
***
"So the first few weeks of school haven't been so bad." Lizzie commented as she unwrapped her sandwich and Gordo took a swig of his Snapple.
"I told you there was nothing to worry about." Gordo grinned. "But I am glad I had that growth spurt over the summer. Let me tell you, high school hallways during passing period are not the best place for short people.
"I'm glad you had your growth spurt too," Lizzie replied. "But only because I'm superficial enough to want to be able to wear high heels and still be shorter than you, so when I sit in your lap, we fit right, and when we dance, I don't look like a hunchback."
"Lizzie, have I taught you nothing about looks and what other people think?" Gordo teased, setting his hand on hers.
***
He said take my hand,
Live while you can
Don't you see your dreams are right in the palm of your hand
***
"Yes, you have, oh wise one. Now you're going to have to focus all your wisdom on helping me figure out what I'm going to do with my life once I'm outside of high school and thrust into the real world." Lizzie said.
Gordo grinned slightly as he recognized the slight crazed look in her eyes. "I think we can get through this together, Lizzie."
"Mhh. I think that that was actually quite romantic, Gordo." Lizzie replied.
"I'm trying." Gordo grinned.
Lizzie sighed and fell back against Gordo's solid chest, sighing contently. Her gaze locked on Gordo's and they both knew that they had each other, forever, no matter who they were or weren't dating, even if they were or weren't dating one another.
***
And as he spoke, he spoke ordinary words
Although they did not feel
For I felt what I had not felt before
You'd swear those words could heal.
And I as looked up into those eyes
His vision borrows mine.
And to know he's no stranger,
For I feel I've held him for all of time
***
"Hey, Gordo?" Lizzie said, pulling away and looking at the curly-coiffed boy.
"Yeah?" Gordo replied, looking down.
Lizzie smiled slightly as her lips touched Gordo's lips, soft and comforting.
"Wait!" Gordo said, pulling away.
"What?" Lizzie cried, surprised.
"I think it's---my turn to kiss you." Gordo said, the last part falling off as he captured Lizzie's lips with his.
***
Just a boy,
Just an ordinary boy
