Chapter One – New School

As I paced through the hallways, I noticed that five kids were sporting red arm bands. One of the girls was a red head who looked like she was being dragged by who seemed to be the leader. The assumedly leader was a very confident girl who had a very interesting yellow headband with attached ribbons. Then there was a quite looking girl who had a book in her hand, and two boys, one of which was preferably attractive. He had wispy brown hair. The yellow-headband-girl turned around and glared at me which kind of startled me. "Would you like to join the SOS Brigade?" she shouted at me. I looked around to make sure she was talking to me and no one else. "The what?" I asked twirling my fingers into my ponytail. "The SOS Brigade." She repeated, which didn't really explain anything. "She means it's a club that tries to … associate with the world about supernatural activity." The cuter boy told me. I looked back at my questioner and shook my head. "Sounds …. Cool?" I said, not quite sure of what I was dragging myself into. "Great!" she smiled, lighting up her whole facial appearance. The girl pulled a flyer out of her bag and stuffed it into my chest. "Welcome aboard! We share a room with the Computer Society so it shouldn't be too hard to find." She smiled. "Cool. I'm Natarii." I introduced myself. "Well, I'm Haruhi Suzumiya. The cute one is Mikuru Asahira, the tall one is Kyon, the one reading the book is Yuki Nagato, and the smiling one is Itsuki Koizumi." She pointed out everyone's names. Mikuru looked at me with slight excitement. Everyone seemed pretty nice and interesting in their own ways. There was one thing I was afraid of. Fitting in at a new school when I just pledged a freaky club. Haruhi led the crowd further down the hallway. I stood there and looked down at my map. There was only one thing to do now, find my first class in a matter of only 4 minutes. I was determined. I walked down the hall looking at all the numbers besides the door. I finally reached room 5-282. The room was filled with teens my age, all doing obscure activities. One boy was standing on the desk protesting for animal's rights. I sunk into the cold metal seat only to hear my name being called. I slowly turned hoping that the girl from the hallway wasn't following me. It was Itsuki. "Hey." I smiled. He smiled back. "Are you up for the club today? We're supposed to hand out flyers again." He told me. There was something about this boy that just gave me a good feeling. Like his presence was supposed to be a sign of hope. "I'm actually kind of nervous." I admitted, tracing over the seams in my skirt with my finger. "Don't be! Haruhi will make you feel … wanted." He laughed. My heart began to tremble. Just the way she greeted me in the hallway made me nervous, I could only imagine what her making me feel welcomed would be like. I looked back at Itsuki to see him staring out the window. He was adorable, but it looked as if Mikuru liked him. I really didn't feel like becoming the club member that all the girls hate. From that moment of thought I pledged to myself to keep my crush a secret. That's if I could stand being around him. After all, no one really means for crushes to happen. They just happen.
