"Another
Day At The Office" – T.K Foster
All was quiet aboard Moya,
nothing eventful had happened since their escape from Scorpius and
the Peacekeepers a weeken ago. Although Pilot had tried valiantly he
had been unable to get any leads on the whereabouts of Crais and more
importantly Talyn.
The crew on the other hand had used this
time for their own benefit. D'Argo and Chiana had been spending an
increasing amount of time together, which Chiana said was so that she
could learn to play the shilquen. Rygel was hardly seen out of the
centre chamber and Zhaan spent her time in meditation alone in her
quarters. John, in an attempt to learn more about the workings of
Moya, had started to examine all of her equipment. This invariably
involved taking the piece of equipment apart, receiving numerous
electric shocks and then getting one of the DRDs to repair what he
had broken. Aeryn on the other hand spent her time carrying out
maintenance on her prowler and weapons.
A lone DRD made its
way along one of Moya's many deserted corridors. It had been called
to repair the latest of Crichton's experiments in the maintenance
bay. Inside the bay, John sat on a workbench watching Aeryn run a
scanner over her prowler's cannon.
"Hey, you want a hand with that?" He asked.
"After what you just did to that table, you're not coming
anywhere near my prowler." Aeryn stifled a chuckle.
John
hopped off the bench and walked towards Aeryn, she turned to face
him.
"Yeah, well the table had a loose wire or something. It's not
like I meant for it to blow up. So watcha' doin'?" He was
anxious to help.
"I'm trying to increase the efficiency of the prowler's
cannons, increasing their range." Aeryn explained.
"Cool. Anything I can do to help?"
Aeryn considered this
offer. After what had just happened, this could end in disaster.
Crichton moved slowly closer to Aeryn, despite his obvious
deficiencies she couldn't help but be somewhat captivated by him.
Must be the eyes she thought. He stopped just inches from her and
gazed straight into her eyes. Aeryn smiled playfully, neither of them
noticed the small yellow DRD enter the bay and begin repairs on the
table by the door.
"Well there is one thing you could do -"
"Officer Sun, Commander Crichton." Pilot's voice filled the bay
interrupting Aeryn mid-sentence.
She turned quickly to face
the clamshell on the wall.
"Yes Pilot."
"Ka D'Argo requests your presence on the command. He says he has
located a planet, which is allegedly home to a Luxan. One of some
importance from what he's been saying." Pilot
reported.
"Thank you Pilot, we'll be right up." Aeryn responded, as
Pilot's image vanished from the clamshell.
Crichton and
Aeryn looked at each other, a look of frustration etched onto John's
features.
"Another day at the office." He remarked as they left the
maintenance bay together.
