A/N: I have a lot of feelings about tonight's episode (damn you, Shonda Rhimes… DAMN YOU) and decided to resurrect this drabble I wrote for a 100-word fic meme ages ago on LiveJournal. It's about four years old (and actually 150 words), the prompt was "family," and it was written before Meredith had really accepted Lexie as her sister. RIP, Little Grey.
Meredith shuffled her feet, size-eight Chuck Taylors nearly swiveling in the opposite direction of the dark-haired intern.
Lexie turned just in time. "Meredith? Err, Dr. Grey?"
The uncertain tone made Meredith sigh. "There's this thing," she blurted out. "I need a picture of you for my house."
"Huh?"
"For the mantel, or whatever. We're putting pictures of our family there."
When the words sank in, their effect was obvious. Meredith hated that she added, "It's Derek's idea."
"Oh." Lexie looked at her shoes.
"He's got all these sisters. So I... wanted a picture of mine." Meredith stuffed her hands inside the pockets of her white lab coat. "It's this thing."
Both Greys fidgeted for several silent moments, until Lexie finally met the older woman's eye, her honest face unable to conceal hope. "Maybe we could take one together? Since it's a thing, or whatever."
"Right." Meredith shrugged consentingly. "Whatever."
