All I Ask of You.
This was my first Tumblr One-Shot which I loved writing so much I decided to share it with you all. The title is based on my favourite Phantom of The Opera song: "All I Ask of You."
She had just left his dreams in tatters. He had nothing but, the faded memory of her in his arms for a moment, but, that is all love was to him now, a moment. He would never hold her; feel Snow's lips against his hear her say she loved him.
Because. She didn't.
The crumpled letter, his declaration of love was burning in his palm like the devastation he was feeling within his heart.
It is useless. Better off in the fire.
The Prince moves towards the amber flames but, hesitates. Snow's face, her voice. It felt forced.
GOD HIS MIND WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE.
He needed to see the letter one last time. There could have been a clue. Something. ANYTHING to prove what he had just heard from his beloved Princess was false.
So, he unfurls it and carefully reads every line. There is no alteration in his words. No circle or arrow to give David's heart something to sustain it.
Nothing obvious.
Then, as he was about to finally give up he sees it. A little hand-drawn Blue-bird in the final corner. A signal for him to turn the page, which she had told him about on their adventure, should she ever need to relay a message to her allies.
The Prince was elated. His hands fumble and slip happily as he turns the other side over.
He sees her hurried yet beautiful hand in a short line of ink.
James, I love you. Turn around.
He read the words and did as his love commanded. For, she was HIS love. She loved him.
Were his eyes deceiving him? Was a raven-haired beauty with lips as red as blood standing before him? Was she crying tears of joy like he was for her?
She makes the first tentative steps. As if afraid to go too far so as not to frighten him away. He doesn't move. Just allows her to move forward until there is no space between them. She envelops herself around his shoulders and cries. It is a muffled cry of agony, apology and relief that is silenced by the joining of his lips between hers.
It is assured, strong mutual.
"I am so sorry. I did not mean what I said." She gasps and breathes hoarsely against his lips.
"I HAD TO LIE TO KEEP YOU SAFE!"
David feels her breathing getting shallower just as his has been for the past few minutes. He releases her lips and they take in the air together as he holds her close.
"Do you hate me? Do you hate me for hurting you this way?" She looks up at him teary-eyed as he cups her face.
"SNOW. I LOVE YOU. I COULD NEVER, I WOULD NEVER HATE YOU."
She peppers several kisses on his lips and in delighted response he lifts her up and places her gently on his bed.
"Why, Charming? Are you propositioning me? She sits up and places her hand on her chest in mock surprise before kissing him fully.
"Why, yes. Yes my dearest I am. Stay with me tonight, in my arms and tomorrow will be tomorrow. Whatever, happens from this moment on. We will have this night
"And that is all you ask?"
"That is all I will ever ask of you."
"Good. Because all I ever ask is that you never allow me to leave your side again."
They kissed in unison and were content. For whatever the dawn would bring they had each other.
