He ran a hand through his fiery hair and winked at several giggling girls, who swooned as they caught his gaze. A few of the juniors ducked their heads, hurriedly returning to their books as if he hadn't clearly seen them.

Unable to help himself, his fingers, lithe and confident, smoothed down his jacket, straightening the lapels. He flashed a hovering group of young boys, longing in their wide eyes, a handsome grin. Their cheeks came aflame, earnest desire in their lingering looks. There was one who openly stared, a dark haired senior with a gathering of fans of his own and an overly appreciative smile.

Humans. He took delight in seeing them fall at his feet – it was flattering – though he knew his mother disapproved.

She should have thought of that before she sent him here.

What could he do when he was so naturally charming? He scored straight A's in every subject (he couldn't help that they were so simple, and no, he didn't cheat, Inu-baka) winning the hearts of even the teachers. Well, most the teachers. There were some that were so blank to everything, he was concerned for them, and sure, there were pranks no one could prove, but how could a boy with such a sweet smile be responsible?

He could run faster than even the best, in tight shorts and loose shirt. There were a few boys who skipped class to peek in on his routine, whistling and cheering. They were almost always shooed back to class by a disgruntled professor.

He'd been told by so many people that there was always a slight twinkle in his green eyes, as if he knew something they didn't.

Well, he did.

Much to the student body's chagrin, he wasn't part of the school's Host Club – they had repeatedly begged him to join. He had had various students come upon him in the hallways, in the gardens, whether male, female, everything in between. They didn't badger him, but the question had come up, constantly.

When asked why the hell not, well, he'd only grin and say simply: "My mother."

And left it at that.

They didn't need to know much of Shippo Taisho, and if he had his way, they wouldn't.

There was a petite raven head at the school gates.

She was shorter than the average student; her skin tanned as if she'd spent her days under the sun, unlike the pale flawlessness of the students of Ouran High. It took nothing from her - from her startling sapphire eyes, and her defined limbs, the arms of an athlete. In her plain sundress, she had immediately drawn the attention of everyone in the courtyard.

"Ano..." she started hesitantly at the fallen silence, looking taken aback at the many gazes she had wrought on herself.

Tamaki Suoh, in the midst of a heated debate regarding the safety of bringing a lion into the Host Club, stopped short. He was all for the lions, but he was also all for loving. His eyes drawn to the stranger, he felt it was his eternal duty to greet her. Attractive people should stick together. Determinedly, he patted himself down for a rose before he ran towards her without a word backwards. He appeared before her, bringing her hand (calloused, anything but the gentle figure she carved. It reminded him of Haruhi) up to his lips as he smiled at her.

"What's a fine maiden such as yourself doing all alone?" he purred, eyes lifting to gauge her reaction. The stranger looked startled to have her fingers held, chilled from the wind of the air conditioner. Her shoulders tensing even as she maintained the strained little smile on her lips.

She opened her mouth to answer, and he felt the world disappear under his feet.

Literally.

This time, the young king was on the ground. His fingers were twitching from what the student body could see of him, even more scandalous, his face smushed into the dirt with his ass in the air. Hikaru and Kaoru snickered from afar at the sight, nearly bursting out in uncontrollable laughter.

Shippo Taisho glowered above the fallen king, his lips flat and whitened with pressure. It must have been the heat, for the summers were getting warmer, but Kyouya could have sworn he saw curling phantoms behind the boyish senior, crackling and burning, like...

"Don't. Touch. My. Mother."

Like the tails of a fox.

Tamaki made a small noise of acquiesce.

Well, they might not know much about the star student of Ouran High, but they did know that his mother was off limits.

Author's Note: A few changes have been made.

It occured to me that as an archer, Kagome would have muscles (a bow is hella heavy, like wow, jeez), and all that running from demons? Yeah. She'd be tanned too. All that adventure would have made her averse to being randomly grabbed by strangers.
