Tea

Tis the anniversary of Mr. Tusspot's death.

How will 2D react?

Disclaimer: everyone knows they arent mine rite?

Russell was in his favourite place, the kitchen. The smattering of food lying about called to him even in his room far away. Russ had a special sense, you see, the incredulous sense of knowing when food needed you. And he was sure now that the chicken fingers half down the the garbage disposal were crying for his attention.

He purred with pleasure, licking his wide fingers as the meat slid down his throat. How disgusting. Anyway, much too busy was he to notice a wretched creature dragging itself to a cabinet.

"Oh hi Russ," it croaked weakly, obviously in pain. "I jus' got a migraine, yeh, an' I need sum tea for me belly. Urghhh." It was groaning now.

"Hey D. You gon' be alright?"

"Yeh I fink so, cept for one thing."

"Yes?"

"Aw, me dad died 3 years ago today," 2D sighed. He seemed dejected.

"Maan, 'm sorry. That's awful sad."

"Mmm," he mumured. "Yehhh." D sat down at the table with his steaming cup of tea, sipping it slowly, quite deep in thought. "I fink he loved me more than cream cheese on crumpets…"

Mmmmmmm crumpets, thought Russ.

"Bu' then there was those times when he weren't all tha' nice to me. Not like Murdoc, nope, but he was sure mean. Didn't hit. Jus' yelled. A lot." More sighing.

"He took me to the park once, when I wos six."

"Nice."

"Yeah, there were all these butterflies. It was so pretty Russ! So pretty. He told me all the colours of the rainbow then, an' I never forgot them since."

I'd really like some 'uh that tea right now.

"Oh, wou' you like sum tea?"

"You read mah mind, D. Thanks." Soon they were both into nice warm cups of the stuff..

"An' at the park there was this cute lil girl, like Noodle she wos. I fancied her and Daddy said why didn't I go play. Wos too shy. Bu' not long aftah she came to me an' said she liked my hair! hehe."

Russ smiled.

"Then Dad tol' me, 'See Stu-Pot? She thinks you're wicked, yes she does!'"

"Aww."

"He gave me a hug…sent me off ta play. We left a' sunset and got ice cream cones. I remember tha' cos mine was orangey porangey chocolate chip vanilla strawberry nepolation delight!"

"Sounds like you, D!"

2D laughed. "He got all 34 flavors, he did!."

"Your father's quite a character, Stu."

"Yeah, but he had to go and die." Remembering that overcast, miserable day, he began to tear.

"Well. I…guess it was his time."

"He was only 56, Russ!"

The big man shook his head. "They say the good die young." Aw shit, that ain't no help.

2D looked strangely at him. "What?"

"D! I'm so sorry! I-I didn't…mean it!"

Great. Now he was crying.

"D. I didn't mean that! It came without warning! Your dad was a great guy, I know it. He got you ice cream, he helped you make friends, he loved you! Always looked out for your best interests. Now that's a Daddy!"

"You're right."

"Yep," Russell said honestly, "you were lucky."

"I'll never forget my daddy."

He walked outside and the sun was shining.
