Prologue:
He stood at the middle of the seemingly boundless cavern, scanning for any indication of his target. Perking his ears, he picked up the faintest scuttling noises echoing from above. He gripped the spear in his gloved hands tighter, and planted his zebra-seal skin boots firmer to the ground.
"I know you're here!" he called loudly, fear absent in his voice.
The scuttling became louder, and the man thought he had heard the small deep titters of laughter.
"Mmh..." the man huffed angrily, lips peeling back in a snarl.
"Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha..., oh Kuruk..." another's voice made itself clear, talking to the man.
The man, Kuruk, tensed at the sound of his name, "Stop hiding, Koh." Kuruk felt the creature's presence close in further, but not close enough to leave the shadows.
The laughter grew, and the scuttling quickened in pace. "You're a fool for coming down here, Avatar." The creature, Koh, said mockingly.
"Show yourself!" Kuruk shouted.
The scuttling and laughter stopped, and then a chill fell over Kuruk.
"Very well..." a voice whispered right into the man's ear.
Kuruk's spear clattered to floor, as Koh moved all too fast in wrapping the man up in the confines of the creature's centipede like body.
The avatar, was unable to move in Koh's grip, the spirit's legs cutting into him if he did so.
"Avatar Kuruk," Koh said, their face hovering over Kuruk's. The spirit's breath cold, against the avatar's skin. Kuruk's face was set, a frown threatening to tug his lips down, but he kept his face neutral. Koh with its pale face, dried-blood colored lips, and sunken black ringed eyes stared back at Kuruk.
The spirit smiled, teeth glistening. "I believe..." Koh continued, "Your time is... UP!" Koh lunged forth closing Kuruk in the darkness...
So I deleted the original story which wasn't that much different, but the review from before it was heavily revised no longer made sense to the story as it is now and I published this new one. So this'll hopefully make more sense. This story is going to be about majorly Kyoshi's first years as avatar, and in minor parts about Avatars Yangchen and Kuruk, as well as the goings on of the people around in each of their lives... I hope that made sense. I'm partially writing this as I go with a couple parts formed already here and there. Y'know how you might write a story with the middle all planned out, along with a little bit of the end, but the beginning is blank? So yeah... Critiques/Review are much appreciated! Let me know what ya think! I'm still deciding if I want to continue writing this, honestly...
