There are only few things that could make Sesshomaru change his mind once it was set on something. His brother's dead priestess was not one of them. Kagome however was highly underrated by the hanyou, to Sesshomaru's mind. A story told in snippets.

Chapter 1

Inuyasha and the gang were setting camp for the night. The campsite was close to hot springs and a fresh river, shaded by trees not too far from the road. Kagome and Sango were cooking dinner while Miroku watched relaxed by a nearby tree.

Suddenly Inuyasha was lifted his head and sniffed the air few times. What was this? "Bastard, what do you want?" He barked into the forest line as he jumped down from the tree. Slowly the youkai lord stepped into the fire illuminated circle, so that the humans could see him. "There's something we need to discuss, Inuyasha." His baritone voice drifted, demanding respect and full of authority. His eyes quickly flickered through his brother's companions. "It is about the dead priestess." The silence that followed was deaftening.
