If Dean had been shivering, Sam wouldn't have been so scared. If he'd managed the alphabet without missing every other letter, Sam could have downgraded his panic to mere worry.
But Dean had been in the icy water for too long and the thermal blanket covering his body wasn't doing any good.
Much as he knew his brother would hate him for the call he was about to make, Sam also knew he had no choice. One hand hovering over his phone, the other resting on Dean's forehead, he sighed. His fingers punched the numbers of their own accord.
