Remus Lupin walked out of the Hospital Wing, trying to get away from the scene he had just witnessed and from the woman that had confronted him in front of everyone because of that scene.
He had tried to shove Tonks away, using the same arguments concerning his age, his licantrophy and his poverty, but now, now that he had been forced to see that there were people who did not care too, the base for these arguments was falling apart.
"Remus!"
He closed his eyes for a short time and hurried to walk faster, entering the corridor on the Third Floor, but just as he passed the corner Nymphadora had picked up the pace, walking by his side.
"Remus Lupin, stop walking and look at me!" She called, pushing against his shoulder and he stopped with a small sigh.
"Tonks, I told you a thousand times that I am not good for you!" He said, sounding grim, but he could not deny that his defences were breaking.
"And I said you a thousand times that I don't care! I love you, Remus John Lupin, and my love for you won't just disappear, it can't be cured like a fever! Why aren't you believing me?"
A shiver ran down his spine as she said that and he felt a warmth in his heart.
"Tonks..."
"Remus, please! I don't want to hear another apology! Please just... just grant yourself some happiness. And let me decide on my own what I can cope with."
Tonks could see how he gulped hard and she smiled inwardly as she sensed that he was about to give in.
"I... I am...," he stuttered and Tonks chuckled before she rose to her toes, cupped his face and finally pulled him in for a sweet kiss.
