It was something he had only just recently realized, that when Beth would talk or sing or even hum, his eyes seemed constantly drawn to her lips.
Her lips weren't painted with lipstick and ruby red, no, they were more a pale red and slightly chapped, but it still caught him off-guard, watching as her lips would turn into a frown or a smile. In Daryl's mind this was becoming a problem, because whenever she spoke to him he couldn't seem to concentrate on a word she said.
''What didja say?'' He asked, tearing his gaze away from her lips and forcing himself to look into her eyes instead. Now he found himself staring at them too, bright blue and full of kindness. Daryl tried to shake those thoughts away, he shouldn't be thinking about her like that, but he couldn't rid his thoughts of Beth Greene.
''Well I was just wondering, if you would teach me how to hunt, just in case somethin' ever happened, it might be a good idea is all.'' Beth said, she looked down at her hands, fiddling with a gnawed rabbit bone.
There was a silent pause as Daryl thought out his response. She was right, teaching her to hunt would probably be a good idea, no one knew what the future held, and should anything ever happen to him, he would want Beth to be able to take care of herself. He tossed aside the bones from his half of the meal, and wiped his fingers on his jeans.
''Alright.'' Daryl said. ''Guess I could teach you some stuff.''
After finishing their breakfast of rabbit, they once again started packing up their temporary camp. Beth went from tree to tree untying and gathering up the makeshift noise maker, while Daryl stomped out the fire.
The two of them finished packing up camp, then headed back into the woods. They had been walking for a while when Daryl broke the silence, ''Figure we should start right away on your first lesson.''
Turning around to face Daryl, she nodded, slightly eager to learn how to hunt. ''Yeah, okay. I think I'm ready.''
After showing Beth how to properly hold the crossbow and use it, Daryl handed it over to her, only slightly reluctant to let her use his crossbow.
''Oh, it's heavy,'' she said, pursing her lips as she steadied the crossbow in her arms.
''Yeah, it is, don't drop it, and don't shoot me.''
Beth smirked slightly at what he'd said. ''Yes, sir, Mr. Dixon.''
Daryl watched as Beth walked slightly ahead of him, his gaze seemed to fall lower and lower. With the realization that he was now staring at her ass, Daryl chided himself and muttered a few choice words under his breath. He really had to stop looking at her like that, but damn was that girl pretty.
