A/N: What to say about this fic? This one will probably get updated more often than my other fics since I'm writing it for someone else. …Yep, that's about it. The warnings: light shonen ai in later chps. Probably will have lots of OOCness. Oh yeah, and a lot of questions surrounding my OC that won't get answered till the end. The disclaimer: I don't own YGO, and please don't sue me.
Pard: Chp 1: "Dark Dreams"
The dark sky released a threatening growl as the frigid rain sought to lacerate the body of a young girl. Body numbed by the freezing water, the child cried out in fear as another bolt of lightning ripped across the sky, its deafening boom drowning out her screams of fear. She screamed again as she slipped down the steep, muddy bank she was clinging to, bringing her much closer to the raging, flooded river below her. She stopped her fall by caching hold of a small shrub. Clinging to it with all of her strength, she cried out for the help that would never come.
"Big brother! Help me please, big brother!" she sobbed hopelessly. But her brother was far away, in another city. "Please! Anyone, help me!" The shrub, which was much too small to bear her weight, was finally ripped from the soft mud, continuing the girl's slid down towards the dark water. Screaming her brother's name in terror, she fell into the river and immediately disappeared.
Years later…
"Gah!" In the dark room, a figure shot up out of the bed, a shout dieing on their lips, gasping for air as if they had been drowning. A breeze whispered through the open window, rustling the light curtains and cooling the figure's fevered body. The clouds parted to reveal a brilliant full moon that illuminated the room and it's occupant, a teenage girl. Catching her breath, the girl turned to glance at her digital clock, groaning when she saw how early it was. Leaving her tousled bed, she went to the window and stared pensively at the moon, her right hand going to her left wrist and absentmindedly rubbing the bracelet there.
"What was it? What was his name?!" She mumbled angrily to herself. For over an hour she stood there, struggling through her murky memory for a name and face that kept eluding her. Slamming her fist on the wall in frustration, she flicked on the light and plopped herself down on the bed, taking her Duel Monsters cards out of the nightstand while she did so.
"Fine then! If I can't remember that stupid name, then I'll just fine tune my deck instead!" For hour after hour she shuffled through her deck, adding and discarding cards, analyzing their strengths and weaknesses, until the pale glow of the rising sun brightened the eastern horizon. "Well, I guess that'll do it," she said at last. She returned to her position at the window and watched the sun rise above the horizon.
"So…today is the day….Today I will enter the Duelist Kingdom competition…." Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out a card that had been kept separate from all of the others. "Sensei…I will fulfill your last wishes. I promise!"
