The Life and Times of Tony Badshaw- Chapter 1

It was dull, dismal day in Nottingham, England. Tony Badshaw, a 13 year old Hufflepuff student was sitting in his room, working on his Charms homework. Just then, a huge crack of thunder came about. Well, so Mr. Badshaw thought. However, this loud noise turned out to be his pet owl, Bernard, crashing into the window.

"Bernard, you stupid bird. What do you think you are doing? Get in here!" Tony exclaimed aloud.

He opened the window and let the poor bird inside. Bernard was a very old, but unexperienced owl. During his first weeks of training for flight, he crashed into a tree

Tony let in Bernard.

"What have you go for me there?" he said to the owl.

Tony took the piece of parchment out of Bernard's mouth and read aloud.

"Dear Mr. Badshaw,

We are pleased to inform you about your arrival to Hogwarts School of Withcraft and Wizardry in a couple of weeks. The following are the books you will need for this year."

He continued to read on about the books he needed. He ran downstairs to the kitchen where his parents were sitting drinking some tea.

"Mum, dad! My letter it has come. May we go get my books now? Please! I'm very excited!"

"Tony, calm down." his mother repeated.

"Tony, come sit down for a moment."

Tony was a little worried, for his parents are also usually excited about the bookshopping and such for the coming year at Hogwarts.

"What is it Mum? What do you look so unhappy?" Tony questioned.

"Tony, I can't give it to you in any easier way. This past week, your mother and I have both run into some financial difficulties. I lost my job and you mum's job cannot support the whole family. I think this year, we need to keep you home. We need you here Tony. We need you to help the family out so we can get back on track."

Well, Tony was distraught with this information that he had just recieved. He couldn't believe it. But, it all made sense. His parents weren't in the greatest mood for the past couple of weeks and this is why. They knew how much becoming a great wizard meant to him.

However, Tony couldn't take it. He ran upstairs to his room as fast as he could. Stuffed all of his books and parchment and pens into a bag, and hurried out the door. That would be the last, that the Badshaw family would see of Tony.
