Sam handed Daniel the piled-high plate as she walked in. "Brought us something to share," she said, smiling. "Homemade chocolate chip cookies."
He put it down on the counter and quickly took her into his arms. "Hmmm, I like sharing," he murmured, pulling her close and kissing her lightly several times. "How are you doing?"
"A lot better since I got your phone call," she replied, tracing the edges of an earlobe with her fingertip.
"You've waited a long time, Sam."
"We both have, Daniel," she answered, feeling the thrill of anticipation.
"It'll be worth it, I promise you." They were slowly moving down the hallway, arms wrapped around each other. She ran her fingers through the shock of hair shadowing his forehead.
"I've wanted it badly," she admitted. "Sometimes I felt I was going crazy." She laughed a little, embarrassed.
They passed his bedroom. She looked at him with questioning eyes. He shook his head. "Not there, Sam."
"Uh-huh," she smiled, her eyes half-closed. "Where, then?"
"In the study, on the futon." They moved down the hallway and into the room.
"You ready, Sam?"
"More than ready." She slipped off her sweater and threw it on the chair.
Daniel turned her around and nodded toward a glossy magazine lying on the futon. "Just came in the mail today. Enjoy!"
"Premier issue of Astrophysics! Oh, thank you, Daniel! By the way, could you get me some cookies? It's so hot in here, hopefully they haven't melted. I may need a napkin." Then she settled in and started flipping through the pages.
