#1 Persona

Yuuki put down the pencil she was chewing half-heartedly and closed her exercise book with a faint sigh. It was no use; her mind was simply not on the task at hand, choosing to forgo the algebraic equations in favour of more philosophical musings. Something which her tutor was not likely to appreciate.
Despite her seemingly Omni-present listlessness, a faint smile ghosted her expression at the thought of Aidou's reaction if he could currently see her. Undoubtedly it would involve much shouting and scolding, with the words "Cross-san" being used often. Another smile. For despite her changed self, Aidou still addressed Yuuki by her adoptive surname – her human surname.
Something which provided a small source of comfort for Yuuki, something which helped remind her that although her name had reverted back to its original moniker, amongst other things, her old human persona was not completely lost.
It was funny; she thought idly, that something as trivial as a name could help her feel less like less of a stranger to herself.
That something as small as a name could help her, in some infinitesimal way, to feel less like the monster that he saw her as.
A/N: *blows dust off fanfiction account* Wow, this is my first fanfic in a long time, and i'm so terribly out of touch with my writing style it's not even funny. But after becoming obsessed with Vampire Knight (again), I decided I just had to write something, and well, this is what came out.
This particular drabble takes place around chapter 50, when Yuuki is living back in the Kuran manor.
I'm hoping to turn this into a Yuuki random drabble-centered fic, so watch this space :) Any feedback/reviews would be greatly appreciated to help me improve!
