"Uchiha Sasuke, guest here to see you." Sasuke grunted in acknowledgement.
"Hey, Sasuke." Sasuke looked up at the woman stepping into the prison.
"Karin." He nodded at her.
"I just wanted to say thank you." Sasuke blinked. "If you had never brought me into your team, I would never have traveled so far, seen so many things. I would still be in Oto, guarding the prisoners." He couldn't see her face- the light from the door behind her was blocking it- but he imagined she was smiling. She was. "Thanks to you, I found Konoha. I found a home."
He turned his head slightly. "They didn't imprison you?"
"They wanted to. That girl, the medic, Sakura, she vouched for me."
If he had been a different person, Sasuke would have smiled. "That sounds like her."
"Yeah. She's nice. She's a good friend."
The pair was silent for a few moments, before Karin turned to leave. At the door, she hesitated.
"Sasuke?" She paused. "If it makes any difference, I think I really did love you."
The man said nothing. Karin turned, and left the dark of the cell to a bright day.
